4.0 out of 5 stars very good toaster oven
I have had this oven for a few years and have had no problems with it. It has a timer for baking which turns the oven off after the set time, so you don't burn your house down if you forget something is cooking. It is large inside. It doesn't get hot on the surface. I toasts well. It has a easily removeable crumb tray for cleaning. For the money it is very good.

2.0 out of 5 stars It Toasts; It Reheats; It Looks Like Hell
This is/was out fourth toaster oven -- in 44 years. It did everything it was supposed to. It toasted well. It reheated pizza slices and other things. It didn't hold as many slices (few of them do) as advertised. BUT, no matter how well it worked, after several months, it looked like a health inspector's nightmare. The white on top had discolored almost as though we'd had...

The white on top had discolored almost as though we'd had fires in it and used it as an open-pit BBQ.

The window is black. After a few months, it was blacker and was almost impossible to clean. In other words, there was no way to make this look near new. Our experience has been to steer clear of white toaster ovens. Most have this same problem. Our problem has been that stainless steel toaster ovens with just basic functions (has anybody ever used a toaster over to bake a cake? Maybe a cupcake...), are usually two-slice toasters, not four. To get a true four-slice toaster over today, you also get functions that you'll probably never use or want. I even saw one the other day that has a clock which would be five clocks in our kitchen, a real joy when we lose power.

These comments are not just for B&D toaster ovens. We had a similar problem with a DeLonghi and a Sunbeam. In some ways, I miss the days 30 years ago when ones choices were limited to two or three appliances. This is just one more example of too many choices in what Barry Schwartz examines in his book, "The Paradox of Choice."

For almost 10 years we had a B&D stainless toaster oven. It was basic, and had the one great feature of the rack pulling out when the door opened. It's no longer made, and now with our experience, we've gone back to a toaster. This is how kitchen remodels begin...

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me!, August 20, 2003

I bought this item 3-4 years ago, although mine does not have the timer like the newer models. Initially it worked for a few days and then I couldn't get the toaster to shut off. When I contacted Black and Decker they informed me that they no longer did repairs, but would replace the item. All I had to do was to tell them the model

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

After much investigation this seemed like the perfect toaster oven and initially it delivered -- good size, good functions etc. However after two months it stopped working. Looks like Black & Decker still haven't learned how to make a decent product.
