4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me!
This is the 2nd time I've purchased this large toaster oven, now only necessary after 5 years of almost daily use of my first one. No, I do not use it for toast as that's not it's best feature due its large size, but I do use it as a subsitute for cooking in my full size oven for smaller meals and leftovers. Pizza, baked chicken & fish, are handled very well. It's a very...

2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive as a temporary oven
We bought this toaster oven when my regular broke. It was fair at best while it worked. A week after the warranty ran out, the oven stopped working all together. I finally tossed it, and I have been looking for another oven that can fit a 9x13 pan. If you are looking for a large toaster oven, this is not the one, unless you only want it for a short while. I am so...

2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive as a temporary oven, June 20, 2007
We bought this toaster oven when my regular broke. It was fair at best while it worked. A week after the warranty ran out, the oven stopped working all together. I finally tossed it, and I have been looking for another oven that can fit a 9x13 pan. If you are looking for a large toaster oven, this is not the one, unless you only want it for a short while. I am so annoyed that I won't even look at Black & Decker.

1.0 out of 5 stars Black and Decker CT0650 Toaster Oven, January 15, 2007
I was sold on the large space inside the oven - space large enough for a small pizza or 2 dishes or pans. It also has a nice 60 minute timer with a loud bell and bright blue light that is highly visible. It has a nice front pullout tray that is easy to clean. The brushed stainless steel exterior gets very dusty quickly and smudges easily. It does not really "toast" things. The interior is too large, so toast gets dried out. The biggest problem with this oven is that the controls go on it in less than a year rendering it useless. Because of the size, I've so far returned 3 of them. Black and Decker (now Applica) would not do anything about this consistent problem, so I had to return the oven for exchange at the store.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Looking, but SLOW SLOW SLOW, August 7, 2006
This toaster oven is more of an oven than a toaster. My old B&D toaster oven was fantastic, but looked tacky next to my new stainless appliances. So, I upgraded to this one. The problem is, it takes 5 minutes to toast a piece of bread. My wall oven heats up faster than this thing.

Also, my lower element went out yesterday, which is just the excuse I needed to replace this oven with something smaller and faster.

Like others, right after a year was up the lower element stopped working.

While this was not a terribly expensive appliance, I wasn't expecting only one year of use out of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spare parts not available!, September 17, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven Countertop Oven Broiler
It was great for the first 2 years. Then the top element stopped working and it was still sort of OK, just flip the toast over to do the second side.

Today I finally had the instruction manual, the 800 number and a few minutes to spare to order a replacement element. I called 800-231-9786. I suffered through a confusing phone tree AND a 10 minute long wait on hold. I was told that my 3 year old toaster oven is "fairly old" and that it is discontinued, parts are no longer made for it. I was asked if I would like pricing on a replacement model. No.

I bought a 2007 toaster oven, not a 1979 Mercury Zephyr. I expect a toaster over 1) to work and 2) to have parts available for 10 years after I purchase it. The ideas of a toaster oven as a "consumable" has terrible implications for our environment. We will be keeping our oven until ALL the elements fail. Obviously I will not be buying Black and Decker kitchen appliances again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Plain junk, April 25, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven Countertop Oven Broiler
I bought this oven 5 years ago. The toast/oven switch function on the top knob failed within a couple years, so I installed a replacement toggle switch which got it working again. Now the top front element failed, and I see this has happened to other owners of Black & Decker toaster ovens by searching for the problem online. It cannot be replaced. It is now in the garbage bin, and the next oven won't be a B&W.

The oven stopped working a year after purchase. It is VERY slow, and does not cook well. Please don't waste your money. I wish I read the reviews before I purchased this item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, October 12, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven Countertop Oven Broiler
I bought this oven a little over a year ago and the oven portion just stopped working. The first one I bought was burning things and thought it was just a fluke, so I exchanged it for the same one. That was a mistake. It also takes forever to toast things. How can companies justify selling a product with only a 1 year warranty!! Cuisinart has 3 year warranties on their toaster ovens and great ratings.

Stay away from this oven, I have had experiences with two of them, both of which broke within months of initial use. It is no surprise that B&D discontinued the model.
