4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice oven, good features
I've only had this oven about a week. So I can't review it's long lasting ability. But, the main reasons I bought this oven are important to me and maybe others.

Most Important Feature: It has a timer feature which shuts the oven off when it reaches the time you set. So if you want it to run 10 minutes to warm something, and you leave the room and forget...

1.0 out of 5 stars Quit working after 11 months
Let me start by saying, I love this toaster oven. We bought it January 2007. It is huge inside. Fits a 9x13 pan so we can make cake and brownies without heating up the regular oven. It takes a while to brown toast, but that is due to the large size. With 3 teenage sons all making food at different times, the large size has been great.

Now for the down side...It quit working after only 11 months!!! While cooking yesterday, the unit blew the GFCI outlet. We tried it in other outlets and it blew the fuse each time. Luckily it didn't start a fire or anything. It is under warranty and Black and Decker will send us something similar...but I will miss this one.

This is the second Black & Decker toaster oven to "burn out" on us in a short time. Their warranty is good, but who needs the hassle and the risk?

I've only had this oven about a week. So I can't review it's long lasting ability. But, the main reasons I bought this oven are important to me and maybe others.

Most Important Feature: It has a timer feature which shuts the oven off when it reaches the time you set. So if you want it to run 10 minutes to warm something, and you leave the room and forget about the item, it will turn the oven off and not burn the item or your house down. We really need this feature in our house as many items have been forgotten over time and this feature in my last Black and Decker oven was essential and we had to have it again on any new oven we would buy.

It's very large, so be sure you have room for it. But it's size is nice for two people to cook small dinners without having to run the large regular ovens. Can fit a 12" pizza.

It has two bumpers on the back so it doesn't hit the wall when you put things in or adjust the knobs. And it has nice soft rubber feet so it doesn't scratch the counter top.

Runs very hot so adjust the temp down about 50 degrees.

Toasts well. Has a two position rack holder and an easily removed crumb tray.

This is my third Black and Decker oven and both of my former ones lasted about 10 years. But for the price I paid for this one ($50), if it lasts even 5 I'll be happy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good while markings last, May 28, 2008

Love the product, while the markings lasted. Only had it about 9 months and all of the markings (temperature, time, toast level) have worn off rendering the product unusable. Have contacted B&D about the issue and they just continue to ask me for Model #, Date of Purchase and proof of purchase over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black and Decker Toster Review., June 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
I love this particular model of Toaster Oven. This is my second one; the first lasted about 8 years - I paid $55 for it new at an outlet store and it was well worth the price. I used it every single day until it finally died. I liked this model so well I searched the internet to find the exact model becuase I did not like the newer versions. The reason I like it so well is it's interior size and cooking capabilities. The inside is large enought to fit a 12 inch round pizza pan, a regular size baking dish without handles, and is deep enough that food does not hit the baking elements. It bakes evenly at the desired temps.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the one I have. It's been working and still is after 6 years. Several of my friends have them and they like them as much as I do.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love & Hate It, February 14, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
I love the capacity and look of the oven, CT0649, but it never toasted or cooked good. The toast just browns on the bottom. Maybe the heating elements on the top aren't working. I've alway had a Black & Decker oven, and I would like to get another, but not sure if this is just a defective model, and the other models are better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocked by reviews about durability, had mine OVER six years, November 21, 2010
By

This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
I've had my oven over six years. The oven part quit working a week ago, even though the toaster part that appears to use the same four heating strips, still works. I LOVED this oven so much, I came here to amazon with the intention of seeing if it is still being sold with the thought of either repurchasing one, or finding out if others had the same problem and how to get it fixed.

I found this oven incredibly durable. I used it to cook EVERYTHING in combination with my microwave. I cooked in it at least four days a week, usually more--and probably did not crank up my kitchen oven three times a year. I had every intention of buying another if I couldn't get this one fixed, THEN came here and now I'm full of doubts wondering if I just got "lucky" and got a good one and if I replace it, I'll end up with one that quits working in a year!

Come on, someone, tell me what is wrong with the oven and how to fix it. I mean, THE HEATING ELEMENTS obviously work, whether you're using the toaster part or the oven, SAME FOUR HEATING strips... so why would the oven quit working???

PS, it does suck at making toast, but was great for rewarming pizza and crisping it up like fresh from the oven again. I used a regular two slice toaster for toast.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor toasting, September 4, 2010
By
Sally Smith (Falmouth, ME USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
This was a gift to replace a toaster oven we had used happily for 20+ years. We switched to a toaster oven for toast/english muffins after a series of toasters that all either didn't work or didn't last beyond 6 months.

Although the B&D oven has worked well for baking/reheating, the toaster hasn't been satisfactory from the start. It takes 5-8 minutes to get toast I consider "lightly toasted," or slightly browned. I next tried using the broiler, thinking I could stand over it in case it browned too quickly. It still took 5+ minutes, because the broiler needs to warm up a little (oven front directions say to preheat oven for 5 minutes for best results, so B&D did warn of that). The unit is large and takes up counter space. If your primary interest is for a unit that will give good toast, this one is a pass.

1.0 out of 5 stars same as the others...product lasts about 2 years, July 19, 2010
This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
Mine failed by simply ceasing to operate in "bake" mode, only working in "toast" mode. Not worth having a giant toaster on the counter. I will not buy black and decker products after this. What I WILL do is find a store that carries it and attempt to get store credit, and let them deal with the manufacturer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disposable Product! Yay!, June 6, 2010

This review is from: Black & Decker Toaster Oven
I have nothing new to add with this review. It's a great oven, if a little on the big side (though some people have the room and like that). However, this unit will die after a very short time. Black & Decker's policy with this and all of their other products is "buy a new one!" Beyond the absolutely wasteful nature of this policy, it's simply not a sustainable marketing approach. If I know going in that a product isn't going to last more than a very short amount of time, I'd at least like it to be priced accordingly.

Screw Black & Decker. I'm done with them.
