I bought this because I had several other VersaPack tools. None of them are powerful, but they are great for light duty. Adding the 7.2V circular saw was a bad idea. The only time I appreciated this tool was cutting some 1/4" plastic lattice. If you want to cut spruce 1X4's, figure 3 boards to a charge and you'll have to go s-l-o-w; this saw bogs easily. Blade spins too slow to attempt a plunge cut even in 1/4" softwood paneling (I stubbornly tried until my arm and wrist got sore from the kickbacks). No depth adjustment. Would be good if you crosscut tinkertoys, just not very versatile. I wish I'd spent the extra money for the 3-3/8" Makita.

I have found this to be very good little saw. Is great for little jobs around the house. I like the easy to grip design, its light weight, and the fact it is cordless, so you dont have to be near a plug-in when you use it. As long as you realize that it only cuts 1 inch materials and doesn't do the work the work of bigger, more expensive saws, I think you will be satisfied.

I used my saw to install a Pergo floor. At first I really thought the saw had a problem. It appeared to suffer from lack of power and was difficult to use. After a little thought I replaced the blade that comes with it with an after market blade with fewer and more aggressive teeth. Also the new blade was hardened carbide... best $15.00 I spent. The saw with the new blade worked effortlessly on the Pergo with easy straight cuts and long battery life (I didn't have to swap batteries the second day while I had to swap numerous times on the first day with the original blade. The orgiginal blade worked just fine for cutting the metal tracks that are used in Pergo transitions. Finally, if you don't have a second set of batteries, get them. I have a good selection of versa-pak tools so I always had fresh batteries available. You may want to try the extended life batteries. I haven't so I can't comment on how well they work.

I love the size of this tool, purchased it since it's small and easy to store being an person who lives in an apt. I used it to try cutting some 3/4 inch wood for making shelfs in one of my closets. It's small and easy to guide, but lacks in the power dept. Had only cut a few boards when it gave up the juice and had to recharge overnight, tried again the next day. Same thing. Get a second set of batteries and perferably the gold ones, I hear they are alot better than the sliver ones

which I purchase a second set of.

This saw has like zero power. The only thing it is good for is cutting branches. I tried to cut some plywood, and got about 2 feet before it died on me. I like most versapak tools, but this one is just useless. Get the Recropracting saw instead.

I've bought this machine, because of its light weight and handy size. Biggest suggestion go and get the carbide bit blades. They cut fast and give more power to the unit. The blade that comes with the machine will quit on 3/4" laminated wood, while it still works great on 3/4" pine boards. Get the extra "Gold" power packs, because they last 60% longer. I've build racks for CD's with this machine. I've cut up to 1" with ease. It produces clean and delicate cuts while your arms will not get tired, unlike the big 7 1/4" circular saw I have. Overall, it's a great machine for hobby builders.

Some of you OBVIOUSLY didn't read the specs on this thing or you'd have known what you were buying. I bought this with a specific purpose in mind and it serves quite well. I cut branches, and make small cuts that are easy and don't require the power (or the bulk) of a standard circular saw. This thing is great for small stuff and is easier to make straight cuts than with a recip saw in most cases. Know what your buying and you won't be disappointed.

As a woman it is very difficult to find tools to use that are not heavy and ackward. This tool fits the bill. You do have to use some common sense with this saw but I have cut plastic pipe, wood, plexiglass etc. I found that you need to let the saw do the work and take your time. It cuts clean and is easy to use. Mine came with 5 other tools, screwdriver, drill, angled screwdriver, reciprocating saw, and flashlight. I love all of them! Agreeably it is not the heavy duty tools that most men are used to using but it works for everything I have had to do. The gold batteries are a must for extended use and be sure to keep an extra set on hand. My biggest problem is finding the saw blades.

Let me start off by saying that I love the Versapak products. I have a variety of these tools, and I love most of them. However, this saw just doesn't cut it. The limited power of this small cordless tool just doesn't last long enough to be useful. Also, the saw lacks the power to cut quickly. It just takes too long to do anything. It might be useful for cutting branches, but the reciprocal saw is better and more versatile. If you need a circular saw, either try a corded model or a more powerful cordless.

I obtained one of these for a Pergo flooring project I was doing. I obtained a more aggressive blade for the saw and it worked just fine. Have an extra set of batteries available and let the saw do the work. It is versatile and perfect for the occasional cutting of thin wood or laminate flooring.
