Mighty might inflator,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker VPX1501 Li-Ion VPX Inflator (Tools & Home Improvement)
I own black and deckers older versapak inflator. This one has better batteries so it works at least as well even though the older unit might have a better pumping action. I used this to pump up the tires on my trailer, I think it mostly drained a battery (didn't stop but I could hear a change in the sound of the pump) but the fact remains it took two trailer tires up 40 pounds each without killing a battery. I haven't tried it on the car tires or the bike tires yet but I'm not afraid to. Just be sure you've got a bunch of charged batteries. The local home depot was clearing these out so I got a good price, this system is worth the price, it should be around awhile since I noticed the batteries and devices at walmart. The guy with the problem with it blowing the valve off either didn't have it on right or got a bad one, I've had no problems with mine, this would be great for blowing up an air mattress when you go camping and then the same batteries run the small vac for sucking sand off the floor of the tent when you fold it up. Like the system but this unit doesn't come with batteries or a charger you get that with the drill or the driver or the saw.

I also own the Versapak version of this product. It is made much stronger and has a 12" hose. The short hose severely hampers the use in many applications. The pressure gauge is super inaccurate. It is plenty powerful for most applications. BD knows how to do thus better just look at their previous VP700. Love the lithium batteries. I have bought other items in the VPX line and have been very pleased.

Portable Inflater / Pump WOW - Awesome,

This review is from: Black & Decker VPX1501 Li-Ion VPX Inflator (Tools & Home Improvement)
I received my inflater this morning and have already used it twice! I fixed a flat on my wheelchair, and pumped up my van tire. Anyone / everyone with inflatable wheels will find this tool completely amazing! This tool is awesome and I recommend buying one for anyone with wheels: but make sure you get one for yourself too! The whole series of these VPX portable tools use the same batteries: I can't wait to receive my power inverter with usb charger output! Flat tires won't stop me anymore! Thank You B&D: these tools are BAD to the Bone!

its ok not worth 30 bucks,
This review is from: Black & Decker VPX1501 Li-Ion VPX Inflator (Tools & Home Improvement)
i got mine at home depot for 15 bucks and thats about all its worth. To inflate toys it works great. The tire inflater is horrible, it doesn't fit and blows right off when you turn it on. Do not buy it if you want to inflate your kids tires. I already have the kit and batteries so its ok but if you had buy batteries i would stay away.

The product does perform it's function, it will force air out to inflate whatever you want, but it has several problems that severely limit it's usefulness, in no particular order.
1. It is very, very loud, about as loud as standing next to a lawn mower, and since there is no way to have it continue to inflate without continually holding the button down, you're trapped next to the source of that noise as long as you're using it. 2. The output is unimpressive. It takes a significant amount of time to fill anything but the smallest of inflatables. 3. It absolutely eats batteries, a full charge of a VPX battery will get you about 10 minutes of use, which is enough for most small to moderate jobs, anything larger than that will be very frustrating unless you have a lot of spare batteries. 4. Not very powerful, it's maximum PSI is far lower than most bicycle tires, making it useless for that purpose.

Not a worthwhile accessory,

I have other VPX components besides his inflator (driver, inverter, flashlight) and consider them to be worth the reduced prices I paid for them. I only paid 5 dollars for the pump at Home Depot and am glad I didn't pay a dime more as it really is not a well thought out or performing device. For instance, it is claims to go to 75 psi but just barely makes 60 psi and is straining too hard at pumping up one mountain bike tire on a full charge). Why does the pressure gauge got to 125? Did Black and Decker get a real good deal on these cheap plastic, over-scale gauges? Inflating a ball to 3 psi barely registers on this huge scale.

I really like the VPX system and this works as intended. It's a shame they discontinued the VPX line. I hope I can still get batteries in a couple of years.

This compressor was a bit of a surprise. I expected something far less well thought out
and nowhere near the quality this tool is excellent. It runs off the same battery that all VPX tools use. I bought it actually because I had all the other VPX tools with the exception of the flashlight. I think its a shame Black and Decker will on longer be making these tools.

I got one of these little pumps a couple of years ago when the VPX line came out. It has been handy for me to keep in my car for use on my bicycle tires (I ride a local trail most days after work and carry the bike on a spare tire rack).
After a couple of years the black rubber tubing developed a crack/leak. I was disappointed to learn that Black and Decker has discontinued the entire VPX line. I have other VPX tools including their drill, screwdriver, and flash light and have been pleased with them. Fortunately there where still dealers on Amazon that had some in stock. Now I just have to be careful not to crack the tubing on this one!

I love the VPX tools - The batteries last a long time and the tools do the job for light duty work.
