A solid knife at the price, August 9, 2005
This review is from: 6" Black Diamond Ceramic Blade Knife
I bought this knife looking for a ceramic blade to use as a chef's knife. This isn't quite it.
This is a good knife - it's inexpensive, it holds an edge well, it looks good, and since it's ceramic and plastic, it's basically zero-maintenance. Its weight and balance is good, but the handle, while comfortable, doesn't provide a lot of control over the blade for fine work.
As a general kitchen knife, this is good. But it's not quite big enough to be a great chef's knife (the blade lacks the height to guide effectively as you chop, and it might be a little too short as well), and it's a little too big for fine work.
So in short, a good solid knife, and a decent all-purpose introductory ceramic knife.

not as sharp as the kyocera ceramics, December 7, 2010
This review is from: 6" Black Diamond Ceramic Blade Knife
I bought this knife at target and was very unhappy with its unsharpness. It is nowhere as sharp as My two Kyocera ceramics. It is also not as sharp as the YoshiBlade ceramic.
Although its well built and decently sharp, it doesnt compare to the others in my collection, so save your money.
A word of caution on using and owning ceramic knives...They are made of ceramic ( almost like white glass ) and are VERY FRAGILE. Anyone who has broken a blade doesn't know how to use a ceramic... they are fine instruments
1. Don't use a glass chopping board or plate ( wood or plastic chop boards ONLY )
2. Don't chop spices such as cilantro or basil... these knives are made for SLICING... Not chopping.
3. Never drop... they will break.
4. Don't cut anything hard, or with a bone in it.
5. Never cut against metal unless you want to ruin the glasslike blade.
6. Don't ever even try sharpen ... only the factory can sharpen ceramic knives ( using diamonds )( you will fracture the blade if you try )
7. Lastly.... these knives will easily slice off your finger... be VERY careful, and learn good knife handling techniques... maybe buy a knife resistant Kevlar glove to protect those fingers...
Peace from Chazz

Just okay..., November 19, 2008
This review is from: 6" Black Diamond Ceramic Blade Knife
This knife is not as good as another ceramic knife (which was more expensive) that I own. The blade is thinner and has chipped twice since I received it. I would recommend spending a little more for a better quality product.
