I've been using this pack several times a week for over a year now, and it works great and is holding up well. I got it as a replacement for a simple MEC day pack which I used happily for 20 years, and although this one is a bit larger (about 2200 cu in) it also feels about a third lighter when fully loaded! I love the simplicity of the top-loading design (with just a single top pocket), and the suspension system is great (rigid back panel helps a lot and is very comfy with an odd or bulky load). Its also easy to strap a rope and helmet on the top/outside. Overall the design is smart and the construction excellent with sturdy fabric and zippers.

I mainly use this pack for carrying climbing gear to the crags, and typically carry about 50 lbs for 30-45 minutes to get there. I have however used it with that weight for up to 4 hours and it felt fine. It easily holds all I need for long trad climbs or bolting new routes. As a day hiking or summit pack with a lighter (more normal) load of up to 30 lbs it is extremely comfortable and stable.

(2/24/14 update - Pack is holding up fairly well considering I'm still using it regularly and almost always overweighting it. There is some tearing on the bottom corners where the internal back panel rubs, as well as a few small holes in the bottom material since it is only a single layer. Overall, I love the functional and comfortable design. The only real negative about the design is the open interior map pocket (on inside front surface) which often catches on things when they are being loaded. I've never needed to use the hydration pocket along the back inside surface, but it seems fine and is less likely to catch things when loading. For storage there are 2 lid pockets (the thin inner more secure space, and outer for snacks and small tools and gear) which are great and adequate enough, although it is not easy to access when the rope strap is being used.)

When I got this pack, the straps weren't sewn on properly. I returned it over a month ago and am still waiting for my refund. Amazon and Backcountry both agree that I'm owed my money back, but can't seem to figure out why they haven't issued the refund yet.

UPDATE: I finally got my refund, and I ended up buying the same pack directly from Black Diamond with no issues. Better late than never. I gave the pack one star at first, but the replacement I ordered direct from BD has been great, so I'm going to bump it up to 4.
