Book Description

Have sex, avert doom, save the world.

The Mayan Doom is real. Government witch Amaia Jones has the spreadsheet to prove it.

Amaia is a desk-bound research wizard, living uncomfortably in the shadow of her famous Venus-magic parents. Then she discovers the world is ending. Tonight. But her bulldog of a boss not only refuses to believe her, he won't give her the secret to calling the one force powerful enough to help--the jinn.

She turns to her mental guardian angel, Rafe, the darkly handsome presence who has comforted her since her parents died.

Rafe has a secret of his own. He's a black diamond jinn, one of the deadliest and most powerful of his kind. He's detected an enemy ruthlessly using blood sacrifice to stoke Y12 public panic. Rafe needs to get into the human realm to stop the Doom, but he can't unless Amaia calls him, and she is threatened by his scorching sensuality.

Amaia's guardian angel is a stunning jinni and suddenly her job is far more complicated. Jinn take their pound of flesh in exchange for magical help, but the only flesh Rafe wants is hers, taut with delight. Sounds great, except Venus magic is what killed her parents' love. But her alternatives are rapidly dwindling, and with four hours to go on humanity's darkest night, the only alternative to surrendering her flesh may be surrendering her life.

This title contains explicit sexual language and may not be suitable for all readers.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

I stared up, and up, at six and a half feet of hard male.

He stood before me, fists on hips. Loose pants barely covered him, riding low on those taut hips. Nothing at all covered his granite chest, a flawless bare canvas for the flame tattoo licking one pec.

"Oh my God. You're real."

He was the Rafe of my imagination, but sharper, leaner. Harder. Dreamy chest muscles jutted fiercely in reality; six-pack abs were hard boulders. His well-cut mouth and square jaw were honed to an almost cruel degree. His black hair, bound in a braid, cascaded over his chest, the tail teasing the dent of his navel.

Black diamond eyes gleamed with an inhuman intelligence, a brilliance that encompassed galaxies. In them blazed a will that could defy the stars and a power that could wipe out entire civilizations, and perhaps had.

Those eyes marked him as jinn.

I swallowed hard. My guardian angel was a powerful jinni--and stunning in more ways than one. Physically compelling, haloed in a beautiful, deadly magic, the reality of him raked me with feelings from joy to heart-pounding terror--and instant arousal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great writing, great fun! July 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
It's tough when the only way the you can save the world is to have amazing Venus sex with a super hunky jinn that you thought was your guardian angel. Despite this giant, hard-to-ignore (no pun intended) plot element, this book is not about sex. It's about creating your own destiny and never giving up - even when the world is literally coming to an end.

In addition to the funny, sharp lines and wonderful writing, I loved the book's great characters: Amaia, the conflicted research wizard with a tragic past, and and Rafe, the jinn whose heart is as huge as his body is fantastic. Black Diamond Jinn is the first Mary Hughes' book I've read, but I plan on reading many more.

Black Diamond Jinn Is An Awesome Book At First I Was Unsure If I was Going To Like This Book I Was Reading the First Chapter And It Starts off With the World in doom there was no build up to that part it was just boom there it is deal with it.
As I Kept Reading I Was Stunned Why It Was That Way It was So Amazing I Couldn't Put This Book Down This Was The First
Book That Has Any Kind Of Mayan Doom In It. Amaia Jones Is A Research Witch Who Discovers The World Is Ending Tonight.
She Try's Her Best To get people to listen to her so they can fix it but all it did was get her into trouble with her boss.
So she gose and try's to save the world on her own and it lands her into more trouble. Amaia has had so much go wrong for her
all her life her parents die and now is no better so she turns to her Guardian Angel Rafe for help. Little dose she know not only is he real but he has secrets of his own too. Can Rafe And Amaia save the world from the Mayan Doom? I Totally Give This Book 5 Stars I Hope There is going to be more in this Mayan Doom Series I Love It and I totally want more I will be checking

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and extremely entertaining. August 5, 2012
By cm3
Format:Kindle Edition
This book has very steamy scenes and may not be for every one. That being said..............
I am a firm believer in Karma and I was immediately drawn to this book, not by the awesome cover **drool**, but by the karmic spreadsheets Amaia was pouring over in the first few pages of the book. Black Diamond Jinn is filled with witches, evil apprentices, a HOT jinn, Venus sex and oh yeah....impending doom. Back to the spreadsheets....Amaia discovers after pouring over her karmic spreadsheets that the Mayan's prediction of the end of the world, Y12 (December 21st, 2012) is in fact real. The effort of the witches to create positive Karma to avert the disaster is not working and Maya discovers that some one is actually manipulating the positive flow to essentially force the disaster to happen. It gets even worse when Amaia finds out that actual witches are killing other witches to acquire their power in order to raise the nightmare gods. If that happens humans just wouldn't wake up. Ever. Enter Amaia's internal voice (or so she thought) Rafe. Rafe is a Black Diamond Jinn who is not an ordinary Jinn, he doesn't like to take the typical pound of flesh that jinns usually do, he has been watching Amaia since she was born and has fallen in love with her. After revealing himself to Amaia and Amaia hitting roadblock after roadblock making people believe Y12 is real, Rafe convinces Amaia that only Venus magic can stop Y12. Venus magic is the strongest type of energy and it's produced by sex and the energy it produces.

I really enjoyed these characters and Mary Hughes writing style. It's not just about sex, it about fulfilling your destiny, over coming your past and the dialogue is really funny and well written. Black Diamond Jinn is a fast paced, extremely entertaining, steamy ride. No pun intended.

I received a ARC copy for review purposes only, my opinions are my own.
