The Mondo is the classic big highball pad well loved by many. The construction of the pad cover is exceptional. The use of rubber on the exterior is great for placement on rock or slab landings. The first models of this pad produced first by Franklin and then by Black Diamond used very high quality foam that stood the test of time. Unfortunately, Black Diamond has now changed the foam in all of their crash pads to a low quality foam that quickly loses it's effectiveness and density. I purchased a mondo last winter and in less than a year it is visibly thinner and is much less absorbent for bouldering falls. I still own an old Franklin pad (from 2004)with high quality foam that feels like the day I bought it. I wouldn't recommend any of BD's crash pads until they fix this problem. The mondo has a pretty hefty price tag for a pad that wears out in less than a year. Ditto for the spot pad. Not BD's normal attention to quality and detail.

I love my Mondo crash pad! The only downside would be for people with small cars. I have a truck so its perfect. It is larger and heavier than most pads. This is the pad you want below you when attempting that sketchy top out move...
