Dr. Spring, you are my absolute love.,
By Charlotte (Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Dog (Audio CD)
So, I consider myself among the most lucky of High School clarinetists: for one week each summer, I am afforded the chance to attend a Band Camp where the Clarinet Professor in residence is Dr. Robert Spring.
Wow. This past year, our band camp was allowed the chance to see Dr. Spring perform the title track to Black Dog - the clarinet cover of Led Zepplin's Black Dog. Now, bear in mind that this Camp has many, many talented people performing, Professors from all over the United States who are all pricipal performers in some of the larger orchestras in this huge country. And let me also say that Doctor Spring completely blew everyone away. To see this piece performed live is like magic. Seriously. The technique and skill it takes to play this is demonstrated, most especially when his face nearly goes purple ^_^ That aside, he's absolutely astounding - so much so that I immediately had to buy this album. But to really describe this album, and Dr. Spring... Well, sorry folks, but you just have to hear it. It can't be described in words.
