A Decent Book, April 29, 2010
This review is from: Black Eagle: General Daniel "Chappie" James Jr. (Paperback)
Overall I think the story of Chappie James is an amazing tale of success through hard work. I have mixed feelings about the book though. It focuses mostly on his military career and the way he rose to the rank of a 4 Star General. I took off one star just because it wasn't the GREATEST book ever, and another because it wasn't put together very well. Many of Chappie's quotes were repeated 2 or even 3 times throughout the course of the book. It was written like the voice-over script to a documentary. Which would be an awesome documentary, but as a book this one didn't hit the 4 or 5 star mark.
Still a great story though! I encourage people to read it regardless, so they can learn about Chappie James and what he contributed to the US Armed Forces and America's Civil Rights Movement.
