My favorites on this album are Wounded and Neon Ocean.
This band is gothic and experimental with great musicianship and composition. You have to listen awhile to get into them but when you
do you see how much depth they have. Other bands do goth metal but
this bands sound evokes real emotion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Above average goth metal, February 15, 2004
This review is from: Black Emotions (Audio CD)
Falling somewhere within that emotional limbo between Type O Negative and The Cult, Beseech temper the melancholy musings of Peter Steele's clan with a healthy shot of catchy minor key rock and roll. Neither convincingly bleak nor melodically mainstream, "Dark Emotions" straddles the line between art and commerce; in the hands of a Mutt Lange or Ross Robinson we're talking radio crossover, if on a limited basis, and possibly even media coverage in mass appeal metal publications like Circus and Hit Parader. "Ghost Story" and "Lunar Eclipse" could even appeal to fans of the Cure and Joy Division, but thankfully nothing on this darkly melodramatic opus stoops to anything Manson-like. Theatrical and at times a bit schlocky, "Black Emotions" nonetheless wields significant heft in all the right ambiguously somber places.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta get the CD!, January 12, 2004
By A Customer

The first song from Beseech I heard was 'Manmade Dreams'. I had never heard of them before and that instant I wanted more!

Now I have all their CD's, which all are excellent but this is definitely the best of them. In 'Souls Highway' they sound more produced, fortunately the music is still excellent. 'From a Bleeding Heart' sounds a bit rugged, but that's OK. The music is still very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Standing with the best ethereal black NorEuro doom metal, March 11, 2003

This is really amazing , an outstanding achievement, but even moreso, than most seem to want to realize. First of all there are no gutteral death growls, however that are barratone pagan singing that offset really well with the beautiful angelic non-credited female singer, where the words are legable. This of course has nothing to do with the fact that this group, for some ungodly reason beyond comprehension, do not list the female vocalist's on their cd covers. Ok, I realize they may not be WITH the group, but the voices can run a close second to any female singers from fellow, northern Eurpean , angelic black pagan doom metal groups or facsimilie thereof, including
-The Sins of thy Belloved - Within Temptation (and After Forever)
-Edenbridge - Tristania - Avrigus - Darkwell - Theatre of tragedy
where the mix of black doom gutteral growls are all really offset by the angelic pagan female vocals(perfectly pagan combination.
Out of Europe has come, the Gothic retribulations from historical past to the present acceptance of the return of non confirmation of the existance that this style of music is biblical in its sense of dark brooding, that can be a saving grace.
This sound and it's style, are lush with light and dark, is far more melodic than most of its peers, the female vocals are better than some of the great , Norwegian groups. So this Swedish crew seems to have fit right in. Great listening experience.
