Excellent Text,

This review is from: The Black Family: Strengths, Self-Help, and Positive Change (Paperback)
I have used this text for a course I teach entitled Black Families. This book is a great resource as a companion with other texts I have used for this course. Ms. Logan considers the Black family utilizing a strengths perspective, however this perspective does not exonerate society from seriously considering changes which will help to turn the tide on the destructive realities of poverty; substance abuse; depleted educational systems;institutional racism and differential treatment based on class. This book will engage the reader to critically analyze their position on a variety of topics which remain prevalent in our society today. This book has become the basis for several class projects and exciting discourse. I highly recommend Ms. Logan's book as a required text for classes on diversity and courses addressing the experiences and factors affecting the Black Family.
