Barely Clothed Female Series, but is it any good? It's useful, May 22, 2011
This review is from: Black Flags: Piracy in the Caribbean (Paperback)
Almost all of this series has barely clothed women on the cover. Presumably to help sell more copies of the book. Many times, it can mean it's also a cover for lackluster material.
In fact this excerpt didn't help bode well at all:
"Our cover girl sports a flintlock pistol, and she appears
loaded and ready for action with the cock pulled back in firing
position. Her ramrod is in its slipcase below the barrel, and
the stock is inlaid with gold filigree."
Not much else to say on that subject. But otherwise this is a reasonable resource for general info for the time period listed.
And there's some maps of the region as well. But for anyone seriously into it, just go online on your favorite search engine and grab some topography maps.
Also there's prestige classes (bad: captain, physician, etc. - IMO just too much), cannon damage types (bad: not fleshed out relative to the ship listings), and Panache rules (meh, it's OK and obviously grabbed from 7th sea in ideals if not specific structure)
So as a summary, 4 for info, 1.5 for "crunch"), for a final (kind): 3.
