Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 5-7?Two series entries that exhibit sound research and lively writing. Coverage includes the physical features and daily lives of the animals, an explanation of how they became endangered, and a rundown of the steps taken in the past and present to insure their survival. The excellent-quality full-color photographs are an asset as well. More complete than either Jane Duden's fine The Ferret (Crestwood, 1990) or Sarah Palmer's accessible Manatees (Rourke, 1989), these titles will prove useful to older students. Solid purchases that have no danger of sitting on library shelves.?Amy Adler, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, OH

4.0 out of 5 stars Factual; complete; good introduction to an endangered specie, September 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Black-Footed Ferret (Endangered in America) (Library Binding)
I serve as the Chief of Resource Education at Badlands National Park, one of the few sites in North America that has had black-footed ferrets reintroduced. This book has good information and provides children between the ages of 8 and 12 with a good introduction to this extremely rare mammal species. It is a bit dated as the black-footed ferret recovery program continues; however, it is still a good reference.
