A movie for Gary Daniels`s fans!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Black Friday (DVD)
This is a action thriller about a man`s family that is held hostage by masked terrorists and plans to get revenge! This is a low budget movie that has it`s ups and downs but it is entertaining if you can get by the bad music that is stuck on one beat, horrible dialogue, bad effects, bad color, way off camra work, and a conversation that goes nowhere for about fifteen minutes. We looked at the box and saw Gary Daniels was holding a katana sword and We found out that he didn`t even have a sword at all in the movie so don`t plan on seeing Gary use a sword on anybody. Now for the good stuff about Black Friday. It has a few fight scenes that last a long time and there is some good shooting scenes aswell. These scenes however are tilted and discolored by the camra so it`ll seem different. Black Friday is a movie that doesn`t have the greatest production and fight/shooting sequences so its not no Steven Seagal movie but if you are a fan of Gary Daniels this is a must see and a must buy or even if you are a movie lover that loves martial arts and shooting this is something to check out!

DON'T MESS WITH GARY DANIELS!!!,

This review is from: Black Friday (DVD)
'Black Friday' is a very ambitious independent project with Gary Daniels as the lead star. Unlike most Gary Daniels movies, the story is actually good and not cheesy whatsoever. Gary Daniels looks AWESOME in his fight scenes, but I was most impressed by his acting. I never thought he was horrible, but I had no idea he could actually act. The directing job is stylish and definitely gets the most out of the limited budget.
The movie starts out with Gary Daniels finding out that his house has been taken over by terrorists. His family was taken hostage and he has to work with a special police unit to help save them. The movie quickly turns into a wild ride when the cops decide to kill Gary Daniels. They never planned on letting him live, but he escapes and now all of the cops are in trouble. The story gets really good here. It spends too much time going over Daniels past, but the film only has a few hiccups, and the main problem is that the second half is a little slow moving. I don't like giving too much away in my reviews, so expect the plot to be a lot deeper than I described. While the movie can be slow at times and it isn't the most gripping thriller, it is a great movie for how low budget it is. There are 2 extended fight scenes. The first one is very good but the final fight goes on for way too long and Daniels opponent has to take about 100 punches and kicks to finally go down. I still liked it. You can tell the director meant for it to be overlong and it is actually a pretty unique scene. 3.5/5 The DVD from Platinum Disc has decent picture quality. It looks to be transferred from VHS but luckily it is newer movie.

this movie was quite good. yo can really tell that the cast and crew did their best to make sure that it is a good movie, but i think that what stopped them was the money. they didn have the budget to make it as interessting as it could be. but the fight scenes are great, the way the camera move during the fight scene is well done, the soundtrack was awesome, but still, i feel that there were something missing... but at the same time i love this movie.

WHERE'S THE SWORD?,

Shame on movie distributors that put your action hero on the front and misrepresent the movie! Gary Daniels never even touches a sword in this one! Shame, shame!Aside from that, here's some thoughts about BLACK FRIDAY: *Director Darren Doane has a nifty camera eye, with his use of pastel abstract colors and some unusual filming of the film's two long fight scenes. *Why does Dean Campbell give up his family to help out in this caper? *Gary Daniels has a commanding stage presence, able to blend his fierce martial arts persona and that of your average Joe. He is to be commended for trying to be an "actor" instead of a "martial arts" star, but he should remember---he is still a martial arts star and he should put a little more action in his movies. The long fifteen minute sequence between him and his friend, Matt, is filmed at such a strange angle it diminishes the performances. *This is not a great movie, but enjoyable in a cinematic way.

This is a great movie!,

First off, this movie is awesome! The description on the package is pretty straight forward, but the movie isn't. Plenty of plot twists to keep you off balance. Awesome music, I wish the soundtrack was available! The fights were great, one of the fights looked like something out of a Tekken or a Dead or Alive video game. The camera work wasn't the best, the CGI wasn't great, and some of the dialogue was just bad, but all in all, this movie suprised me, and I'm so glad I got it. One major disappointment, Gary Daniels is holding a katana on the package, but unfortunately, there's no swords in the movie so you don't get to see Daniels take someone out with a sword. Also the ending was slow, and you're not quite sure what happens to his family. Buy this movie if you're an action/martial arts fan, you won't be disappointed!

Bought this at Blockbuster for $6.99,

I saw this on the Blockbuster sale table of previewed videos and though, "hmmm... sword flick". I read the back and it sounded interesting so I bought it. As others have said, Gary doesn't even use a sword in this movie. I kept waiting for him to whip one out, but he never did. The movie itself is pretty good for low budget. The music is a mixed bag. Some of it is good, but for the most part it's annoying. I do like the fact they used an alternative band instead of the typical rap music crap. The fight scenes are realistic in that there are no fancy super power moves, just good ole fashioned martial arts against martial arts. And that's a good thing. The gushing sounds you hear when people get stuck in the heart with a knife could've been left out. Some scenes just seemed like they were filmed in the same location, or locations that didn't require anything but a camera and the side of a building. I could've sworn Gary's law office and the CCO office looked like exactly the same place from the inside. You have to expect that kinda thing with low budget films. The rental of the huge house was probably most of the budget. That being said, it was mediocre as an action movie and there were times when the acting seemed strained. It's decent if you like low budget action movies, but it's subpar except for the three fight scenes in the movie.
