I love this organic potting soil. Plants love it too. Does not get hard crust on top like Miracle grow, stays loose. Have never had a gnat problem with this as another mentioned but have had gnats with Miracle grow. Price is extremely high if you have it shipped. A 30 qt. bag is $7.50 before shipping costs. Check out the black gold site for a retailer near you. Planet Natural ships, still very high shipping cost but cheaper than this 16 qt bag with free shipping. I also love their organic compost as a mulch.

For several years I have relied on this outdoor organic potting soil with earthworm castings for my container plantings. It has always yielded beautiful vegetables and flowers. It also works well in raised bed plantings. In my experience, it has never contained "bugs."

This is a very rich, high quality soil which my roses (William Shakespeare & Alec's Red) are thriving in. No unwanted pests either :)

Used this for herbs and eggplants. I like that it's organic, and my plants seem happy so far (about two weeks since planting). Am back to order more.

I've always loved Black Gold soil. I do container gardening in the winter and live in a small town that doesn't carry soil in the winter months, so it's great to be able to order it from Amazon.

I grow a lot of medicinal and culinary herbs and had tried getting by with much cheaper organic soil from the hardware store. Alas, you get what you pay for, and the off-brand stuff I got was full of what looked like wood chips and was very. very heavy; practically like cement when dry. My plants were stunted and sickly no matter what I did. I realized it was the cheap soil, so I went back and bought some Black Gold organic potting soil and instantly fell in love. It's much, much lighter and has way better drainage. It also seems to retain (just enough) moisture well and doesn't become a hardened brick when it dries out. I'm in the process of transplanting all of my seedlings and plants into new pots using nothing but Black Gold. This soil has practically saved my container garden.

I really love this soil, and my plants do too! I will definitely buy it again next season as well.

This is a nice rich potting soil that my container tomatoes and herbs just love!
While 'regular' potting soil is fine for most houseplants like my Peace Lily, I want organic for edibles. After all, whatever is in their dirt gets into the plant itself. If 2 identical vegetables are placed in front of you, the only difference between them is that one contains toxic pesticides and chemicals, even in small amounts, which would you rather eat? Which would you give your growing child?
Organic food, organic growing...a small and easy way to care for yourself and those you love.
THEN I can splurge on something opposite and not feel so bad, lol!
