ROLL OUT,

Great quality foam rollers. More dense than the blue EVA ones but not as dense as the OPTP High Density rollers. There is still a rubbery give to them By far my most favorite foam roller, my clients love them as well.

This is kind of like reviewing a pencil- you sharpen it and it writes- use the other end if you make a mistake.
Well, how much can you say about a foam roll. You lay it down and then you lay down on it. Can be kicked under the couch for those that don't want to lift it. If you drop it, it won't break. Well, don't take my word for it. Read more reviews about a foam roll to be sure. Seriously though, as foam rolls go, this one is good. It's high density foam, so it won't break apart like the kind of foam that is used to package boxed items. I weigh 175 pounds and found it to be firm YET there's an inherent amount of "give" to it that keeps it from becoming uncomfortable. So if you're interested in a foam roll to stretch out on, I'd have to say this is a good choice. Also consider Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis if you need a decent exercise program for your back.

I didnt believe the hype about the foam roller but it works. I have some compression issues in my low back. Im pretty athletic and really hurt myself. I have used the foam roller twice a day for about 3-5 min each time. I never bought any of the books. Roll on your back from neck to low back. When you get to the sensitive part, hold it until the pressure releases. I do that over and over again. My entire spine moves and pops with this thing, its awesome!
My husband has ruptured disks and finds relief in it as well. I will use this forever. Not to mention, my low back hasnt been able to move much or pop in MONTHS. After 1 week it has regained mobility and pops regularly!!

I have had a very painful spasm in my lower back for over 7 months. I've seen multiple chiropractors, an acupunturist, 2 massage therapists and my general practitioner not to mention trying multiple topical treatments and OTC pain killers. My GP recommended physical therapy and a foam roll. I decided to try the foam roll before forking out the cash for PT. The foam roll is the only thing that has made a real difference other than expensive deep tissue massage. I'm able to roll on exactly the spot with the spasm and use my body weight to massage it out. Not to mention I can roll my whole back and get it to pop a few times. I also use the roll after workouts or when I am sore.
Yes, it hurts some but not in a bad way. It's a deep muscle massage that hurts so good. If you have any muscle pain or soreness you'll be glad you have one of these on hand.

I was worried the foam wouldn't be dense enough, it's almost too dense. It's working fine for massaging my legs and back. I also use it to align my spine by laying on it lengthwise with my head on the top and my butt on the end, bending my knees. I got the 36 inch and round version.

I'm certainly not a huge guy compared to the folks you often see at the gym, but I'm 6'2", weigh a solid 200 pounds and have fairly big legs. It's no exaggeration to say that I simply flattened the GoFit foam roller I bought whenever I tried to use it on my quads, glutes, or IT band. After a few repetitions on the longer muscles, it just wouldn't roll any more, leaving me to turn to options like a couple of tennis balls duct-taped together, which are fine for stationary pressure but none too comfortable otherwise.
I did not have this problem with the foam roller at the gym, and the regeneration exercises from the Core Performance program were very helpful in treating a chronic problem with one hip, so I went in search of something sturdier. Visits to three local exercise equipment chains turned up nothing that inspired confidence, so I took a flyer on this. I bought the six inch diameter, one foot long round version and it is great. The firmness is a little painful at first, but in my experience that's how foam rollers work, by getting at the kinks. I can finally work over each of my legs by applying long, slow rolls without the roller collapsing. Adding this to my pre-lifting warmup and my evening stretching routine has helped tremendously with squats and deadlifts, both in preparing the larger muscles to work and in reducing the soreness afterwards. I recommend this product in particular if you are a larger guy or gal.

I use foam rollers on a daily basis at my fitness center, so I bought a High Density roller for my mother. She reports that she is very pleased with the product! It arrived quickly and shows no damage after daily use for over 2 months!
Since it is the most dense option, do expect some pain with the exercises- but good pain. It helps relieve lots of muscle tension, but if you are deconditioned and new to the foam roller, i would recommend a medium-density instead. It helps to carefully review myofacial exercises for the foam roller prior to deciding what density to order!

I'm a Big Guy and this Works Great For Me,

First off let me say I'm a pretty big guy, I weigh 230lbs and I'am fairly muscular. If you are looking for something that is firm but still gives a little this is not the roll for you. My girlfriend to to use it once and she said it felt like lying on a rock. I've been using this roll for the past 9 months, about 3 times a week. Mostly I roll on my back and to relieve some of the tension, but I have also used it for my hips, legs and calves. This roll is truly high density as I look at it today it looks the way it did the first day it came out of the package, and has not lost its shape at all. More importantly it has maintained its firmness. Before getting this roll I had bought this 24 Inch Foam Roller available from Altus. After the very first use I could see that the middle part of the roll had compress a bit, and about two weeks of use it started to look like an hourglass. It lasted about a month before I threw it in the trash. Overall this is a great product: No odor at all from the foam, It is very firm and you can be confident it will not lose its shape, and feels great as you give yourself a massage with it. |
