This review is from: Black Holes: The Membrane Paradigm (The Silliman Memorial Lectures Series) (Paperback)
The idea of a pedagogical introduction to the membrane paradigm is a good one. However, the authors' treatment is
far from self-contained; I was disappointed. My particular interest was in the treatment of electrodynamics outside the black hole. Unfortunately, the key equations (Maxwell's equations) were not derived but were referenced to another paper. I obtained the reference paper (with some difficulty) and found that again key results were simply stated based on an earlier reference. Now I have to put all this together, coping with the changes in notation and conventions. Not fun! |
