5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth and sweet, and never harsh, March 30, 2009
Black Jack gum is actually the oldest flavored gum in the United States! It was originally developed in 1884 by Thomas Adams of Staten Island, New York, and was the first gum to be sold in stick shape. Adams' is also the maker of Chiclets, and was acquired by Cadbury Company in 2003.

Black Jack is a great gum. It has a nice smooth licorice flavor that is quite smooth and sweet, and never harsh, unlike some other licorice candies. Chewing Black Jack gum is like experiencing licorice for the first time, all over again!

When I was young, a local drug store carried a wide range of candies, including Black Jack gum. Whenever I could I would go and buy a pack, and to this day the Black Jack taste takes me back to my youth and that drug store with the giant racks of candy.

So, if you want a great gum that tastes like no other gum out there, then buy Black Jack gum. It's fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars YUM YUM YUM!, October 15, 2009

Remember the days when gum tasted good and wasn't full of flavoring that tasted like medicine, the flavor was long lasting, it didn't get hard as a rock to chew, and was the best ever to crack on the back of your teeth.... then you must buy Black Jack! This summer my neighborhood Walgreen's was selling this gum along with Clove and Beemans (two other nostalgic flavors). I kept buying pack after pack of Black Jack, which was getting expensive. Then, I wondered if I could find more than one pack at a price that was economical. I searched the web and Amazon has the best price so far. So now I am buying the 20 pack. Black Jack is the only gum I chew. Now if only someone started manufacturing Chum Gum again, I would be in gum heaven.

A good friend of mine always told me how much she loved this gum. Well, I found it here for her. When I gave it to her, she screamed!! She left a few packs here & unfortunately, she recently died of lung & a brain tumor. I found the gum here yesterday & "Here's a Toast To YOU Joyce". We all love you & miss you so much.

I love that gum. I wish that we could purchase it locally. They should bring it back onto the market again. I'm sure it would sell big time.
