5.0 out of 5 stars Great, but not for the squeamish..., June 25, 2008
This set collects episodes 7-10, which is the 2nd set of the Black Jack OAVs & completes the series. This OAV set came before the TV series, so purchasers should be aware that this isn't part of them.

The stories in this collection are varied in their intensity. They range from a boy who has plants growing from his body to a girl who has become infected with a disease caused by pollution. (Contrary to what the jacket says, the girl shows *no* signs of turning into a mermaid.) Some of them are more interesting than others, but all are pretty cool.

The blood & gore levels are pretty small, especially in comparison to other gorier anime & movies out there. Still, some of the stories do have some gasp value when certain elements are brought into play (as far as the plant boy goes, think "The Ruins"). They're never over the top, but are always excellently done as a way of making a point.

I'd recommend this series, but only to those who are ok with watching medical dramas. Some of the plot points are a little too adult for younger viewers. There's no sex (no romance either, really), so if you are a parent that's ok with medical dramas, then this should be ok for younger vieewers.

5.0 out of 5 stars BlackJack is my hero!!!!, August 28, 2008
By Joseph F. Frustaglia (Boston, MA...USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have been caught up in BlackJack now for quite a while now.Ever since I was a young child I loved everything Asian. Chinese,Japanese and so on and so fourth....but especially Japanese especially all of the horror and science fiction movies I spent Saturdays watching on TV in my lonely childhood and now as a 45 year old male I enjoy it still. Dr. BlacJack is a medical hero with that touch of macabre that makes him totally mysterious. I know it started out as manga and I would love to know his whole story. Pinnoco is absolutely adorable and though she is a child I caught on fast to all the grown up and adult ways about her. Well all I can do is keep watching and enjoying. I think the Japanese are brilliant with their imaginative minds and artwork of all kinds. The artwork and stills that are shown in the BlackJack are absolutely fantastic and very inspiring since I am an amateur artist and poet. I will continue to collect as much BlackJack memorabilia as I can.

Thankyou very much for allowing to express my views,

Talho Von Bludd

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Jack, November 13, 2005
By Ronnie Clay "R.C." (Winnsboro, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
Black Jack has seen death wear off in the age of science. As mankind is going to annihilate itself, it is up to Black Jack to put a stop to it. I love season 2 it has blood in it.
