Review

"A darkly seductive page-turner by a writer who knows how to put the erotic thrill into a thriller." -- DarkEcho

Product Description

A dark erotic thriller. It all starts with two blonde sisters, one black husband and one murdered Navajo. Reality becomes increasingly uncertain as a husband works to help his accused wife. Evidence isn't what it seems to be, neither woman is who she seems to be, and all three hold close their dark secrets. His long-repressed temptations resurface as he slides deeper and deeper into the sisters' sleazy world of black leather, racial preferences, razor-sharp implements and mistaken identities. Is he married to a murderer, or just sleeping with one? One thing is for sure -- both women are trouble, and he can't stay away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Leather, October 27, 2003

What a great read! Taking a long transcontinental flight with down time in two airports, BL made the journey effortless for me. The time flew by in a blink, literally. A well crafted story with rich, gritty atmosphere, each chapter makes you change your mind who the killer is. Wonderful tension, both sexual and psychological. Highly recommend. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Artfully written and highly recommended, October 7, 2003
This review is from: Black Leather (Paperback)
Two San Francisco sisters having a similar taste in men find themselves inextricably caught up in a nasty murder in the California desert not far from Los Angeles. One sister is accused and arrested while the other sister serves as her legal counsel. Only when the accused sister's husband tries to help in his wife's defense he comes to believe that the police may have arrested the wrong sister for the crime! To further complicate matters, the sister he suspects has become his lover -- and maybe things should just be left to run their course as is. Black Leather is an artfully written and highly recommended erotic and psychological suspense from first page to last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Leather, hold on tight..., August 6, 2003

Don't read this alone at home with only a candle flickering on the night stand.

This work of fiction will crawl under your skin as Elizabeth takes out her pen and lightly runs it up your back, to send chills spiraling down your spine. Elizabeth Engstrom is at her best with this story of life, death, and the quirks too many of us may have locked away in our closets.

I strongly encourage you to read this work of a master crafter, but please read it during the day, in a full cafe. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

More About the Author

Elizabeth (Liz) Engstrom grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois (a Chicago suburb where she lived with her father) and Kaysville, Utah (north of Salt Lake City, where she lived with her mother). After graduating from high school in Illinois, she ventured west in a serious search for acceptable weather, eventually settling in Honolulu. She attended college and worked as an advertising copywriter.

After eight years on Oahu, she moved to Maui, found a business partner and opened an advertising agency. One husband, two children and five years later, she sold the agency to her partner and had enough seed money to try her hand at full time fiction writing, her lifelong dream. With the help of her mentor, science fiction great Theodore Sturgeon, When Darkness Loves Us was published.

Engstrom moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1986, where she lives with her husband Al Cratty, the legendary muskie fisherman, and their Duck Tolling Retriever, Jook. Liz holds a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing and a Master of Arts in Applied Theology, both from Marylhurst University. A recluse at heart, she still emerges into public occasionally to speak at a writers conference, or to teach a class on various aspects of writing the novel, essay, article or short story. An avid knitter and gardener, she is on faculty at the University of Phoenix and is always working on the next book. Learn more at www.elizabethengstrom.com.
