5.0 out of 5 stars This is classic Dub ...
The Mad Professor is the king of Dub. Black Liberation Dub manages to combine anger, sorrow, pride and intense love into a whole. With very minimal use of lyrics on only a few tracks, Mad Professor conveys a whole range of emotions to the listener. This is one of the most intense and in-your-face reggae records ever made and easily ranks with the best work of Bob...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dubroom Review
The Mad Professor is one of the best known Dub Mixers from the United Kingdom. On his own Ariwa Label he has released numerous weird dub mixes. He has mixed for Massive Attack, and numerous UK based reggae artists. Using digital equipment, his sound differs from that of the older Jamaican Roots Dub as we know it from King Tubby and more. With very minimal use of lyrics on only a few tracks, Mad Professor conveys a whole range of emotions to the listener. This is one of the most intense and in-your-face reggae records ever made and easily ranks with the best work of Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Black Uhuru. For Dub beginners, you basically cannot go wrong with anything from the Mad Professor. My other favorite is Dub Me Crazy, part 9.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dubroom Review, November 9, 2001

The Mad Professor is one of the best known Dub Mixers from the United Kingdom. On his own Ariwa Label he has released numerous weird dub mixes. He has mixed for Massive Attack, and numerous UK based reggae artists. Using digital equipment, his sound differs from that of the older Jamaican Roots Dub as we know it from King Tubby and more. Mad Professor can be considered as the link between Jamaican dub producers and the newer generation UK Dubcreators (Alpha and Omega, Jah Warrior, Mixman etc). On Black Liberation Dub, he uses an interesting mix of old and new skool Dub techniques. You hear the phaser as well as the newer sound effects as we can find them in samplers and so on. From this technical point of view, I think this album is interesting to study. If you like a combination of the old and the new, this album is for you also. It has computer drums, but also real musicians as well. 12 Very psychedelic tracks mixed in such a way, only the Mad Professor can do this.

You really can't go wrong with Mad Professor. I would pick up this cd and also "Anti-Racist Dub Broadcast", which is Black Liberation Dub Chapter 2. Both albums are very consistent, and you'll love it if you are a fan of dub or reggae.
