Excellent Film..... Full of mystery and great acting.,

This film is very well done. Mark Hamill did a wonderful job!. He always does. The film is very captivating and suspensful. It makes you watch and see what will happen in the end. The acting is very good on the part of all the actors. One actor in the film, Ray Michaels Quiroga who plays a detective did a very good job portraying a cop with a sence of humor. Apolonia did a wonderful job, and of course the rest of the actors did very well. The direction was well excecuted and the writting was very good. Director Deryn Warren did a wonderful job casting this film and directing it. This film is one of my favorite horror and suspense films.

Blood disaster,

Bloody eggs! Bloody eggs! EEEEEKKKK! So scary, you can hardly stand to look at the bloody eggs. And this movie is a bloody mess. Where to begin; plot, acting, music, fashion, editing and cinematography all leave much to be desired. I must confess that I have a passion for bad filmmaking. I have viewed this film repeatedly, for the sheer hilarity of all the `scary' parts. It's fun to watch with your friends to laugh at all the awfulness. Mark Hamill does look fine in his BLUE undies, and is shirtless throughout most of the movie. And he's not at the beach. Still, he cannot save this wretched film. Watch only if you're prepared to be scared by a dead rooster, three (not two) digits, and some lovely 80's fashions. You'll have a blast. I promise.

Black Magic Woman - A surprisingly excellent film!,

If you ever had ever type-cast Mark Hamill as goody-goody Luke Skywalker, this film should change your mind. The beginning featured several old ladies and a two hard to identify young ladies (one looked VERY much like Amanda Wyss) holding a voodoo ritual in the dark. Then the scenery changed to an art gallery. Brad Travis (Mark Hamill), a charismatic, successful art dealer that operated an LA Art Gallery with his girlfriend Diane Abbott (Amanda Wyss) held party to promote a new artist. At the event Travis saw Cassandra Perry (Apollonia) who visited the gallery for the first time. He was most attracted to her (what man in his right mind would NOT be attracted to Apollonia???) and made it apparent to everyone including his girlfriend. Diane got very angry and opted not to spend the night with Brad (they lived in separate residences). Brad heard noise in the gallery after Diane left and it turned out to be Cassandra. A very erotic and well directed love scene followed, which was highlighted by the song Black Magic Woman and sensual art. Diane flew to NYC for business, which left Brad free to have an affair with Cassandra. After Diane returned, Brad behaved very badly to Cassandra. I was very disappointed in his demeanor to her. The affair became public knowledge and Brad lost both ladies. Brad then brought home another lady and tried to "have fun" with her, but couldn't because he became suddenly ill due to a CURSE (witchcraft). He began vomiting blood and had great illness, which doctors couldn't diagnose. Without ruining the story, Brad got sicker until a curandero healed him. However, 4 people were murdered as a result of the love triangle. Who killed them? Who put the curse on Brad? Which lady did he end up with (I would've chosen Cassandra)? I prefer not to tell you as I think you should buy this film. It is suspenseful, sensual, well-directed, and the acting was great. I'm really surprised that Mark Hamill's and Apollonia's careers didn't take off after this film. It really is an excellent cinematic production - and if you're a fan of Apollonia and/or Mark Hamill....that's just the icing on the cake.

An Overlooked Classic,

This is one of the coolest occult scary movies ever, simply because it seems so realistic in plot and awesome story line. Simular to "Harvest Home" and " Rosemary's Baby ". Like HH, this is a VHS only film. We found & bought this while on the 127 yard sale new & sealed. It made my day, yet,I wonder when the powers that be will ever give us a DVD version w/extras. No special fxs, yet a very creepy tale of lust, love, & revenge. 9 on a 10 scale.

Mark Hamill VHS format only, not on dvd worth the money.,

Its low budget. Its only ever been released on VHS format, I cannot even see it on Region 2 disc release. Its early in his career, IMDB shows a lot of performances that he has done in his career but try finding them live action as opposed to a voice acting role, also alot of the work he has done that is live action is good but no executive will take the risk of putting it on DVD. It is the worlds loss, this is a creepy psychological thriller with elements of witchcraft and other aspects of the occult that is just so good that I can not say enough about it. The problem is that if I tell you to much it will ruin the surprise. If you want to take the risk keep reading for a full description of what is now a prize part of my VHS collection. I might try to copy it to disc for my own private collection as I love it that much.SPOILER ALERT!!! READ ON AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!! Evil has never been more erotic. The owner of a suburban art gallery searches for someone to perform an exorcism after a witch casts a spell on him. Great Story and Well Acted. The film itself and the acting in the film were very good. The whole story idea behind it was very interesting and intriguing. The problem with the film was that the editing was not very good. By the editing not being good it affected the over all look of the film. The acting, directing, writing, and complete film were good. The editing killed the whole thing for me because it was too choppy and made it difficult to follow because of all the weird splicing everywhere. But besides that I'd give this film an 8, 10 being best. In spite of the splicing, I am never selling this film, and will only lend it out if I can burn a copy to disk, and then only because it is hard to find. I paid 4 dollars for it here on ebay, but in retrospect I would have paid $30. Look all you will, you won't find this at even the most eclectic or artistic independently owned video stores. Believe me I have actually looked.

Fans of Star Wars might be shocked to find their hero, Luke (Mark Hamil} play a dishonest playboy art gallery owner who is seduced by Cassandra,(Apolonia Kotero) a witch sent by his girlfriend's relatives to bring him good luck and a desire to marry Diane. Here lies the condradiction. Why does Cassandra only want to have him bitten by a snake and catch a deadly disease? Why does she in her jealousy want to murder anyone who could cure him? The relatives seemed be using witchcraft so he would want to marry Diane, yet they seem to be casting spells to kill him instead. Black Magic Woman seems to be a story to wrap around Carlos Santana's music. It's thin on plot sense, but very entertaining.

This movie had to grow on me for a while. I was at first put off by the shoddy voodoo practiced by the suburban grandmas, not to mention some of the gore. The acting and subtle eroticism save the movie from decending into an unwatchable mess.Parts are very reminescent of _Angel Heart_, and the end is a real kicker. And yes, Mark Hamill looks very, very good wearing only a pair of grey briefs.
