Am I missing something?,
By NC Grandma (NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Moonlight (The Marjorie McClelland Mysteries) (Paperback)
After reading glowing reviews for this book, I was eager to read it, but have to confess that I found it shallow and disappointing. The characters were two-dimensional, and the plot was not convincing; the whole thing left me wishing for a good Ngaio Marsh or Dorothy Sayers.

A fascinating and fun mystery, not to be missed,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Moonlight (The Marjorie McClelland Mysteries) (Paperback)
When you have an eye for a mystery, they can be hard to avoid. "Black Moonlight" is a tale set in the honeymoon of mystery writer Marjorie and her new husband Creighton Ashcroft in the 1930s. Meeting with family, Marjorie's honeymoon turns sour quick, and when murder enters into it, her expertise suddenly turns it into a working vacation. "Black Moonlight" is a fascinating and fun mystery, not to be missed.

Setting Has Been Used Too Frequently,
This review is from: Black Moonlight (The Marjorie McClelland Mysteries) (Paperback)
We've been there before. The isolated island, the customary amount of house guests, the prescribed number of murders, the ineptitute of police investigation, and the last minute rescue. This formula has become overworked and trite. In spite of these obvious deficiencies, this is a breezy if somewhat interesting read along the line of Carol Higgins Clark's mystery/detective writings-occasional twists and turns with lots of tedium.
