I purchased this product with some caution because of the lack of reviews. I would like to reassure everybody that this is truly a high quality product. The only thing that I found a little spectacle was the pull up bar dose bend and flex when I am hanging on it. I do weigh 265 lbs so I guess that is understandable. I do not think in any way the pull up bar will break. Also I found the video link in the instruction manual extremely helpful when putting this pull up bar together, even though it was not the exact same pull up bar. In summary, I thought this was a great purchase that was package well, shipped fast, and was high quality.

So I just started P90X program and found that I need pull up bars and weights/resistance bands... so here I am. I chose this item over all the other ones because it had BOTH pull up bar and resistance bands for a pretty good price. I was little concern with how good the pull up bar will work with my door frame, especially reading couple reviews that said it had damaged their door frame or it collapsed while working out. It's been a month and I have not have any damage on my door frame nor did I fall off the bar. It is very sturdy. I also like how they have included extra mounting brackets in case you want to make it even more secure. I rent and I don't think my land lady would like me drilling holes into her walls so that was out of the question. But like I said, it holds up even without it. As for the resistance bands, they are great alternative to dumbbells since they require little to no space and are MUCH cheaper. Those were the biggest selling points to me. I was kinda afraid them snapping on me when I stretched them out but so far they've held up good. I do wish there are more bands in the range of 20lbs to 45 lbs that have closer range of resistance (like 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-40, 40-45)... as there is only black, red and orange. And I really don't use anything under 20 lbs so there are like 3 bands I don't use. But for the price, they are great! I think if you are a girl, these bands will be great for you. As for guys, especially if you work out regularly you may run into needing high resistance band. But good thing you can make the circle bigger and that will increase resistance too. All in all, it's a great complete package and I would recommend it to anyone, especially for P90X.

I purchased this because of the convenient package with the resistance bands. The bands a great! But the pull-up bar rates par. I borrowed a friends pull up bar made by iron gym. The iron gym pull up bar was solid. There was no flex in the metal when using it. (I weigh about 140lbs). This pull up bar must be made of a weaker/ cheaper metal and it flexes, even when I do a pull up. I would be afraid of a 250 lb person using this bar. I wish they sold the bands separately. If you are looking for just a bar, I would recommened bars made my iron gym.

I bought this set, and the pull up bar works great...except that we live in an older house that has thicker walls than newer homes. So, we couldn't put it in the doorway we wanted to. It only worked on one in the entire house, which was a doorway that was added at a later time. Also, it didn't really say anything about it in the instructions, but I wouldn't trust this with cheapy door trim, and you should make sure that you're putting the screws into studs rather than drywall.

After reviewing a friend's P90X discs and doing some of the exercises that didn't require additional equipment I decided in for a penny in for a pound and bought the program. Doing my research ahead of time led me to looking at alternatives to their recommended supplements and equipment.

I read through the reviews of many dumbbell and resistance bands as well as pull up bars. I decided to go for this product as I thought it was good value for the money and seemingly reputable.

I am very happy to say that the pull up bar was easy to put together and does not need permanently fixing to a doorway or even the installation of screws etc. PROVIDING you have a doorway that meets the criteria. I did and it works like a champ. The only additional steps I take are to place a couple of pieces of cardboard between the front bars and the door frame to prevent black marks on the white wood - which will happen as you actually use the product.

The bands also work well, although I don't envision much use for the light weight ones! Mine also arrived with a card for a free 35lb equivalent gold band, which I completely forgot about requesting until 3 weeks later. It was at that time that I noticed my primary band (red) had developed a crack almost all the way through the band. Not something you want to actually be noticing when it's being stretched during exercising!! Sends the heart rate up a little!

That afternoon I placed a call to BMP and to my pleasant surprise had a real live gentleman on the phone within less than a minute! I explained the situation and also mentioned the offer of the free gold band. He said that he'd have a replacement red band and the gold band shipped to me that day - even giving me the tracking # right then and there. Two days later I have both bands. A careful review of all of the bands has revealed no further defects and I'm using them without any problems.

So, all in all I would have given a 5/5 for the product except for the one band that had a defect - so 4/5 for that. Customer service of BMP 5/5.

If you're looking for alternatives to the pricey "official" products that the exercise company may be pushing, look no further! If I didn't have space limitations or small children that might play with dumbbells I'd have more likely not got the bands, however so far they're doing what they're supposed to and my muscles are the only things complaining about it!

Also, for other alternatives look up Mike's Mix for a recovery drink and "Premier Nutrition Protein Bars - Double Chocolate Crunch". Two products I highly recommend as better than and cheaper than the recommended ones.

Two weeks in, 10lbs down! I'll take that for a start!!

I bought this pull-up bar because of its high rating among several similar offers here at Amazon. Problem is that this bar does not fit my door frame despite being 32in wide. The producer only writes "fits most doorways up to 32 inches wide". This statement is super deceptive and completely uninformative! There are two more measures that are crucial to whether this device fits or not:
(i) thickness of the wall: mine is 6.5in
(ii) height of the door frame: mine is 5in
If you have similar or larger measures, this pull-up bar will not fit.

My negative review comes from the fact that I find the information on which I bought this device on Amazon deceptive. I live in New England, and I bet most houses in New England have door frames with similar measurements. When writing "most", the producer may have had California houses in mind (I am widely guessing) or some dormitories. It would be so easy for the producer to give exact specifications and not a general and unspecific remark "most". Why not provide a simple annotated graphics with requirements the door frame has to fulfill so that customers know before buying it whether it will fit?

Second suggestion: I bet there is a market for pull-up bars that have several holes, thus allowing to customize the bar and adapt to different door frames. Either this or to provide two different options ("thin wall apartments" / "thick wall houses") together with exact descriptions and you will make many unhappy pull-up bar buyers here on Amazon super happy.

I just submitted a claim on the green resistance band. I have had the Black Mountain Products less than 30 days and the green resistance band broke. I was not too happy for the failure of this band. I am now awaiting word on how the warranty for replacement of this product works.

This product is GREAT!!! The new automotive grade seat belt grommets along with the high thread count nylon, and longer lasting rubber tubing made this product almost indestructable! I am very pleased with the wide handles and how you can interchange and strap on more bands at once. The pull up bar is good and it does flex a little being that I am 280 lbs it is expected. A great buy, great price, great packaging, and speedy delivery. Couldn't be more satisfied, thanks Black Mountain Products!

I bought this product after comparing it to the top 10 pull-up/chin-up bars (i.e. P90X, Iron Gym, Maximum Fitness, Creative Fitness) and the alternative Black Mountain pull up bar set that came with the resistance bands with detachable handles. I was persuaded by the value of the product and the multiple grips (comparable to Iron Gym Ultimate Bar), along with the fact that it came with a set of resistance bands. I bought this fixed handle set instead of the detachable handles set because I read that the resistance bands with the detachable handles are too short to be used for the P90X workouts.

First off, the resistance bands are solid. Before assembling the bar, I noticed two of the rubber grips were out of place, and I needed to slide it back into position with water. When it came to assembly, doing it by myself was not easy as I expected because of how you have to tighten the screws through the nuts. I saw a video review of the Maximum Fitness bar (which has all the same functionality) and the way the screw tightens seems more intuitive than this Black Mountain bar.

The bar did not self-mount on my door which has a narrow trim and door entry. I had to install the 2 brackets that came with the product by drilling 8 holes into the wall. I'm 210 pounds, and the screws that came with the bracket seems a tad short for my peace of mind since the brackets will be supporting all of my weight and the bar. I used my own set of screws. After installation, I placed the bar on the brackets and notice there was a barely noticeable bend on the bar when I did pull-ups. I don't think it's anything to be overly worried about, but I wouldn't push my luck with the maximum 300 lbs on it. All the grips worked great.

Overall, this is a good value, but if this didn't come in a discount set, I would have bought a different pull-up bar with similar grips but better quality craftsmanship/material like Maximum Fitness or P90X. This bar did come with the bracket, which is good if you are unsure whether your doorway works.

I purchased the Heavy Duty B.M.P. doorway chin up bar and Resistance bands (New Heavy Duty B.M.P. Doorway Chin Up Pull Up Bar and New B.M.P. Resistance Bands Perfect to use with P90x and any other fitness program.) to use with the p90x program. The kit had everything I needed to start the program.

Chin up bar - Very strong I am 250+ I have no problems with the bar. Assembly was very quick and easy and the instructions also provide a link to a YouTube video which would clarify any questions a person would have.

Resistance bans - Having no prior experience with resistance bands these seem like quality. I do have concerns about the lower resistance bands and how durable they will be (only have the product in use for two weeks) - this concern is what prevented a 5 star rating.

Shipping - Very prompt, came sooner than expected.

Over all a very good product and all you need to start a program like p90x
