WARNING! May 8, 2007
Take note, kiddies: mine *broke*. Luckily, it did not break completely mid-climb, but had cracked most of the way through under about 180 pounds of weight--enough that afterward it fell apart very easily. Although above it says "rated for 800 pounds," another seller says "not for climbing."

If you really want to be an urban ninja, get a real grappling hook from a mountain climbing supply store.

Dangerously Weak!! June 2, 2009
"Rated to 800lbs." Not a chance! I threw it into a tree (about 10 feet up), it fell back to the ground, and one of the hooks bent. I bent it back, threw it back into the tree and pulled my 185lb body up the rope. Got to the top and the hook was now bent severely in the other direction. The next time it hit the ground (soft earth and grass), the screw top tip (which allows the collapse) bent so much it can no longer be collapsed. At this point, I could easily break the hooks off with a couple of strong tweaks of my hands. Judging by other reviews, and the opinion of the seller, it may be that mine is faulty. However my seller won't refund, because he says I broke it with "misuse." I guess letting it hit the grass from 10 feet up is misuse of a grappling hook. He then eventually admits that this is more of a "collector" item than a functional tool. DON'T EXPECT TO CLIMB SAFELY WITH THIS PRODUCT. It would be great for yanking things back to you, but don't stake your life on the 800lb rating. For my money, this product is nearly garbage.

the grappling hook works pretty well but the rope is worthless for climbing. definitely need some true climbing rope to tie on

Flimsy, use this if you like death (your own)
I bought this, it's flimsy and shakes, after one use it bent. It is a replica of a grappling hook that is a pure waste of money. Even the rope is too thin to be of any use.

Works great, no complaints with it. It looks good and is fun to mess around with. You get exactly what you pay for and is a great piece to have.

weak metal
This item looked really cool, my kids were very excited to use it. Then when I got it together, the hooks bent the first time it was used. Very disappointed.

Grappling Hook - Thanks Amazon!
Great product and exceeds expectations. Bought this to clear tree and limbs from our pond. Works great. Tied it to the truck and pulled out a huge tree with no problems at all.

Fun thing to play with
This grappling hook is very neat. Don't expect to use this as a lifesaving devise since it is more made for having fun. Read more

Grapple my ass
I bought this thing to grapple junk out of my pond, and also to do ninja stuff. The first thing I grappled was a piece of plastic snow fence about 6' long. The hook broke. Read more

Fun to mess about with something like this, except if you're caught climbing around at night, police will classify this as a burglary tool, and a weapon. Read more
