5.0 out of 5 stars James Bond's successor.
Fred Austin does a fine job in carrying on the William W. Johnstone legacy. Lt. Col. Arthur Jensen is a hero for today, an American cut from the cloth of the men who built this country.

I am a new fan of Johnstone, having only read Preacher's Fortune, a five star novel in its genre.

2.0 out of 5 stars How Many Stereotypes Can You Spot?
There are many good reasons why although this books was published in 2006, it only has 9 reviews, Amazon practically pays _you_ to purchase it, and makes it part of a "buy 3 get 1 free deal". Even if you think Donald Rumsfeld is the best Secretary of Defense in American History and you think the Bush administration's conduct of the war in Iraq is sheer brilliance, you'll...

Lt. Col. Arthur Jensen, the great great great grandson of Smoke Jensen, is the politically incorrect protagonist we have been waiting for--James Bond's and Mat Helm's successor.

Austin's characters captures some of the idiots masquerading as Congressmen, Senators and talking heads. This is a book for real Americans, one that will induce nervous breakdowns in the far left apologists.

I am eagerly waiting for the next Black Ops novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of best books I have ever read, May 4, 2006
This review is from: Black Ops: American Jihad (Pinnacle Adventure Fiction) (Paperback)
This is awesome book related to current events, far left media, and even back to events of Viet Nam War. Like most of Johnstone's books, it is also a "pager turner". I look forward to another with the main characters in the near future. I hope millions read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable AND necessary reading, March 19, 2007

This review is from: Black Ops: American Jihad (Pinnacle Adventure Fiction) (Paperback)
It is refreshing that an author has been brave enough to tackle this subject in an honest way. So many of today's books dealing with terrorism are distorted by what some call "political correctness" and others call "multiculturalism." Jihadists don't believe in multiculturalism. They believe in monoculturalism--theirs.

If you want the facts behind the fiction, read While America Sleeps: How Islam, Immigration and Indoctrination are Destroying America from Within.

There are many good reasons why although this books was published in 2006, it only has 9 reviews, Amazon practically pays _you_ to purchase it, and makes it part of a "buy 3 get 1 free deal". Even if you think Donald Rumsfeld is the best Secretary of Defense in American History and you think the Bush administration's conduct of the war in Iraq is sheer brilliance, you'll be appalled by both the number and sheer crudeness of the negative stereotypes the author strings together to get the plot started and to prop it up. Some examples. In the first few pages there's the fanatical muslim jihadists who supervises beheading of Great-Satan-supporting individuals. There's the opportunistic TV journalist with no ethics who rose to the top by yellow journalism who destroys the hero's military career with his dastardly reporting. There's the owner of a major TV network who wants to end the Iraq war by any means. There's the hero of the plot who qualifies for a Medal of Honor and gets thrown out of the Army for the same skirmish with insurgents. And there's the oily Saudi official who protects the murder of a blond (really!) American girl in Saudi Arabia. The only reason I give this book 2 stars is that Amazon shipped it to me free with Amazon Prime and spotting stereotypes was more fun than finding Waldo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could this happen???, June 12, 2011

Like the other reviewers I enjoyed this book although I found it a bit hard to get started pick it up and put it down a couple times then finaly got into it. The description on the apparent intentional distoration of fact by the media is correct just look at how they presented Viet Nam. Also the Congressional characters seem to be some of those that we see on TV trying to push their own agendas today. However, once this guy got started with his mission the action really got with the program. I think he is a very good follow up for Bond and Helm and I hope to see more of him. There are some typo etc errors that should have been corrected if Amazon had a good proof reader but it doen't distract from the story line, I just glossed over them.

Johnstone knocks another one out of the park, taking 'could happen here today' to the next level. With a pretty accurate description of how a thinly disguised CNN does business, bashing America and the military at every step, and dealing with terrorists in the only effective way possible---hunting them down and killing them-- Johnstone deals with the realities that so many in government and the liberal media don't want to admit. A must read for conservative libertarians everywhere. This should be required reading in every political science class in the country.

The author has done a great job taking one of his western characters and bringing it into today's world of conflict. It was one of his best. I could not put it down once I started reading. I hope this is the beginning of a new character.
