Jacq is an expert and as we might expect, his novel often betrays that fact. Unfortunately, his writing here is rather flat and dull, although this may well be the fault of an indifferent translation by Sue Dyson. True, the opening chapters are excitingly conceived, but the rest of the book is often lumberingly over-detailed in its descriptive matter, and extremely colorless and repetitious in its many dialogue passages which are mostly constructed in an amateurish question-and-answer format. There also seems to be little attempt at rounded characterization. But above all, the book lacks style and has little of the atmosphere of Jacq's other novels set in Ancient Egypt or even of my own IN ALL HIS GLORY.

I think that your book was really good, but towards the end of the book,It was saying that Memphis walls were inpanatrateable but yet it opened its gates like they didnt care who ruled but dont hurt us eg/ when Piankhy came to thebes, he rode up and said a couple of words and then min/hours later they openef their gates and he rode in like it was his, and that really ticked me off. There was no challenge whrn they said that no invasion could pentrate the walls but yet he walked right through them like there was no challenge. As far as i could see yoour story was story was weak in the aspected that i guess the invasions and conquers of your story lack convection, emotion, and knowledge of these real life history characters and events. I really injoyed your book but at times I felt like I needed to put it down because I felt agrivaded that your portrayal of times was inaccurate becuase the events/battles were made to look easy. Piankhey really did not have a much of a fight to put up wiht.

The Ramses series were excellent and i could not put the books down. The events /challenges were very stressful to the pharoah and the Hittie king. I thought that it was a good idea for the Hittie princess and Ramses to get married because the two countries sighned an agreement to become allies. I found it very amusing when the Hittie princess wanted Ramses very much but Ramses wanted nothing else with her, so she had to get in his good graces to become greater than Nefertari.

In all the books I've read, you have given me ideas for when I become an Egyptologist in the future and I have you to thank.

Thank you very much, and I shall continue to read, and I'm waiting for your new books to come out as soon as possibly so i can read them. bye
