Four More Years! (Or At Least Four More Albums), January 4, 2011

Yes, yes, and yes!!! Black President is a new band comprised of Christian Martucci (ex-Chelsea Smiles!!!) on vocals/guitar, Charlie Paulson (ex-Goldfinger) on guitar, Jason Christopher (ex-New Dead Radio) on bass, and -- for the album, anyway -- Roy Mayorga (Amebix, Nausea, Soulfly) on drums. (Roy recently left the band and was replaced by Dave Raun, himself ex-RKL, ex-Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, ex-Lagwagon.) This is big -- no, HUGE -- and powerful and fast and loud and angry and, put simply, just what we need right now. Black President presents the best of all possible worlds, an unholy collision of Bad Religion, Reagan Youth, RKL, D Generation, Born To Lose, Ramones, Subhumans (UK), and Motorhead... with the songs to back it up. A stunning and most welcome debut from a band that damn well better stick around for awhile.
