5.0 out of 5 stars The Lotus Takes Over This Bitch!
For my money, Black Rain is superior in every way to the original Dark Lotus album. One can tell the Lotus has grown a group, both lyrically and creatively. The six Petals of the Lotus send the dark rain falling upon your cranium with tales of the dark spiritual (i.e., Consume Your Soul, Corrosion), hauntings (i.e., Hell House), loss of sanity (i.e., She Was, My 1st Time,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Get the old Dark Lotus Album
I'm sorry this album is weak compared to the old DL albume. The beats on this one are not the best. I thought DL was suppose to be dark and gloomy. This album is way to upbeat. In my opinion it sounded like this album was put together quickly and sloppy. Lets just hope that the rest of Psychopathic releases are not so disappointing. Well, if your a fan of DL, you'll...

For my money, Black Rain is superior in every way to the original Dark Lotus album. One can tell the Lotus has grown a group, both lyrically and creatively. The six Petals of the Lotus send the dark rain falling upon your cranium with tales of the dark spiritual (i.e., Consume Your Soul, Corrosion), hauntings (i.e., Hell House), loss of sanity (i.e., She Was, My 1st Time, Pass the Ax), and what it means to be a keeper of the Lotus (i.e., Under the Lotus, With the Lotus, Death Don't Want You). Let's not forget "Doornail Dorothy," the neighborhood corpse who is just dying to quench your sexual fires. But my absolute favorite Black Rain tale is "The Walls," perfect in every way, from the lyrics to the tunes to the story. There are many ways to describe this song, but basically it's about the world's worst mental institution......your own mind! Expect to hear tales of darkness and devestation, but of inspiration as well. (Only if you're a juggalo, though. If you're not a juggalo, DON'T expect to find inspiration on this album.) If you want to hear Dark Lotus at their best thus far, get the Black Rain album immediately!

4.0 out of 5 stars The lotus is back...., April 25, 2004
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
The is not better or worst than TFTLP..Its in ITS Own catagory. Onto my review..

1)Under The lotus--Great intro. Sets the tone nicely.

2)Black Rain--A little more paced than it should have been after the intro. Yet still cool. (Best Verse---Monoxide)

3)Ka-boom--Good beat, lyrics could be better excetp Jamie. (B.v. Madrox)

4)Thats me--One of the rare tracks with guitar riffs. Great back and forth flowing. (B.v. Monoxide)

5)Consume your soul--One of the darker tracks. Great. (B.v Oddly ABK)

6)She Was--Three members talked about a girl, Three about a gun. Nice (B.v Monoxide)

7)Corrosion--Reminds me of 'Swarm' from TFTLP. One of the better beats. (B.V Tie between Monoxide and Madrox)

8)My 1st Time--MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM. This is classic Psycopathic wickedness. They all Equally ripped this track (My favorite verses Violent J and MADROX)

9)With The lotus--Everthing except the ANNOYING chrous ruled about this song. They all go back and forth with their verses. It reminds me of TFLTP slightly

10)Hell house--Should have been on Psycopathics from outer space part 2. Doesnt fit here

11)Jump Off---Waste of a track.I dont like this one at all.

12)The Walls---Classic. This is what Lotus is about. Dark yet story told. I love it. (B.V Violent J and Madrox)

13)Doornail Dorothy--I guess they needed a funny track. THIS WAS NOT FUNNY IT WAS A WASTE...

14)Pass the ax--This is the 2nd best song on the album. They did great on this with the beat. It changes with each member. MONOXIDE RIPPED IT. (B.V Monoxide hands down)

15)Death dont want you---I expected a DARK track with the title. BUT this is the Juggalo track that every Psyco' album has. Juggalo Family from TFTLP beats this easy.

OverALL this is a great album. I bought three copies HONESTLY. I cant wait FOR Hells Pit.

5.0 out of 5 stars for fans of darker rap, June 27, 2005
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
i'd recommend this cd to anyone who is a fan of the gravediggaz, gangsta nip, old geto boys... this cd is really cool as far as concept, production, and the overall dark (sometimes frightening) humor of the album, production is really great as well and everyone is on point, i'd recommend this to anyone who is a fan of unique/original rap, this definitely isn't your typical rap group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lotus are BACK!!!, February 17, 2005
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
This is Dark Lotus's second full length album. The first being the masterpiece Tales From The Lotus Pod which I did not think they could out do. I guess I was wrong! Black Rain is 14 tracks of non stop slugs aimed right at your dome. This album will flip your wig. This album I guarntee you can hear from start to end I know I can. (Best Songs: My First Time, Pass The Axe, The Walls)
Well MCL!

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece, April 7, 2004
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
This is one of the best albums by Psychopathic Records. It may not be as dark as TFTLP, but its still good. Some of the best songs are Track 2 (Black Rain), Track 3 (Ka-Boom) and Track 15 (Death Don't Want You). On the outside of the case there is not a track listing, but on the CD itself, there is a track listing. This also contains the release date of The Wraith: Hell's Pit and Cryptic Collection 3 (Twiztid), Colten Grundy (Blaze Ya Dead Homie), and Dirty History (ABK). I strongly recommend this to any juggalo/lette out there. Definetly worth your money. you can also buy it at http://www.hatchetgear.com

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, December 3, 2007
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
I originally bought this for my girlfriend, the juggalette. Now i personally am not part of this lifestyle of juggalos and no, im not down with the clown...and honestly, i've never really been a fan of any of the music either...But of course, my girlfriend would not stop listening to the album, and thus i was forced. But to my surprise, i fell in love with it. So i bought one for myself.

The lyrics are totally whack, in a manner of violence and graphic-ness. But for some reason, it turned me on to the music. I even started listening to ICP and other stuff like it-

So if this album can turn a total non-juggalo family member into someone who really loves it, then that clearly means something.

Great album, i really recommend it to 'family' members and non.

4.0 out of 5 stars Return to Form?, April 28, 2004

After a several year string of disappointments and near-disasters (see: Psychopathics from Outer Space 2, Hatchet Warrior, Wizard of the Hood, 2/3 of The Wraith, the list goes on... ) Psychopathic Records has put out another good album.

Amazingly, in spite of the absence of Mike E. Clark, ICP's longtime producer, Black Rain emerges as the better of the two Dark Lotus discs. This album comes across as much more cohesive and planned out, and with less filler to boot.

This is *not* an excellent album (hence only four stars), but longtime Psy fans would be wise to check it out, as it's by far the best thing the label has put out since 1999, which brought the superb Amazing Jeckel Brothers and the Mostasteless re-issue.
