nice...,

how thoughtful, how sweet, how nice of Ozzy's record company to release this BARELY 6 MONTHS after the original release of the album...(I'm being sarcastic, just in case you were wondering...) they want people to keep buying CD's and stop illegal downloading, and yet, they keep pulling off dirty tricks such as this one... give me a break!!!
I'm all for supporting the artist (and while I don't personally endorse downloading, as long as it's legal it's ok with me...) and whatever, but really...how do you think most fans who bought the CD back in May will feel seeing this? Or the guys who legally downloaded it `cos they thought they were getting exclusive tracks? Or even worse, the guys who got the imports at higher prices in order to get the extra tracks? Sure, the ULTRA/MEGA diehards with disposable income are not going to mind at all, and they are going to be glad, and they are going to sing praises, never mind the fact that they paid for 2 (or even 3, `cos I know a few freaks who download albums AND also buy the CD's...) versions of the same thing... Well, here's to 14 bucks of mine the record company is not gonna get...and also, I'm establishing a new policy: I won't buy new CD's for AT LEAST a year after they are released, in order to avoid being ripped off any further by those scumbags...yeah, I'm feeling pretty mad right now, and I have the funny feeling that I'm going to be mad for a while... I'm going to give Ozzy the benefit of the doubt at this time ("innocent until proven guilty") and blame it on his record company, so my rating has nothing to do with the music, I'm just protesting the release...So obviously, if you didn't buy the CD back in May, this is definitely the version to get, since you're getting 6 extra tracks for a just a couple of extra bucks (althought the live tracks are pretty redundant if you ask me...) I just hope I don't find out that this was another one of Sharon's money making schemes, `cos I'm getting pretty tired of those, too... Peace to you all

do money grow on trees?
do record companys think that the fans have a secret printer that they print money on? i hate that they make these 2 cds set after they make the safe mother earth package that i have and the normal cd booklet, now for the extra tracks the true fans and what i mean by true fans are the fans that pay the artist for his hard work and not download the cd for free. will hate that they dont have this, but also will think a lot about paying again for just few more songs. i love ozzy songs but i hate that his making all these best of cds that he made in the last 5 yrs and i hate that his making a milk the cow 2 cds set - i hope that ozzy didnt plan this and that this is just another plan from the company or the wife. the reason for the 5 stars is that i love the music from the 1st cd i dont know anything about the 2nd cd which is a bonus here i didnt buy it yet

I agree with "ERICK BERTIN" about this CD. I was really disappointed to find that this is the third version with EXTRA TRACKS included. I purchased the second version which is a Japan Import CD with the extra 2 tracks AND which they say "Only available in the Japan Import CD release." I purchased the CD at Amazon on Sep 2007 for $21.99. And now this version with a BONUS CD!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! I feel like that I was ripped off... They should of done this on the first release.. I bet alot of Ozzy Fans who bought the original CD release in May are feeling the same way too.. I too will wait a year after a new CD release comes out. Who knows how many version will me made after the original release. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!

I was very surprised by the quality of this CD!The additional CD is a real plus for die hard Ozzy fans especially"Here for you" the love in this song is outstanding! Many of the tracks make quite a statement like"The almighty dollar" or"nightmare".The black rain theme of the whole album points to nuclear devastation with the poisonous rain falling and fires in the background!Ozzy always has a way to make a statement in his music!Trust me...buy this album...you will not be disappointed!
Rock on Ozzy...Hillery

This was a present for my Son-in-law, and he was playing it seconds after he opened it. I was happy for him, and glad it came in time.

I figured Ozzy was done. I felt his last two albums were sub-par and I figured dignity was no longer of any concern to him after he embarassed himself week after week on The Osbournes. Thirty years of loyal fandom and he gambled it all for fickle ratings.
I was as surprised as anybody that he still had it in him, especially at this stage in his career. This disc just rocks. I can't believe how well structured these songs are. Black Rain sounds like it came screaming right out of the silver age of rock. Did Ozzy pay Zakk Wylde a lifetime supply of booze to save all the good potential BLS riffs and solos for himself? Man, I'm impressed. Melodies and lyrics are vintage Ozzy. This is pop metal actually done right. One of the best albums of 2007 and Ozzy's best in over fifteen years. His image may have taken a drastic turn at the beginning of the new millenium, but the song remains the same.

Released six years after 2001's Down to Earth, Ozzy's Black Rain released in 2007 is the last album to date featuring longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde. Black Rain was sort of a comeback for the Prince of Darkness since it had been six years since the previous album (and there was another six years between 1995's Ozzmosis and 2001's Down to Earth), it was good to have him back as another reviewer said it. Black Rain is not amazing material but it contains some great songs with great licks and solo by Zakk. It's enough to bring most Ozzy fans here in the first place.Black Rain has some great songs, some good ones and some not so good ones, it's not one of the Prince of Darkness' best albums but it's a good one.
"I Don't Wanna Stop" was the first single of the album and is a great song with attitude, Ozzy's always been a rocker and with this one his intentions of continuing are pretty clear. A true fist pumper live, this song is probably my favorite off the whole album, it's damn catchy too! Next Ozzy assure us that he's "Not Going Away", the first two songs are essentially the same subject but different from each other at the same time. NGA is slower and very effective, great song. "Black Rain" is probably the song on the album with the best lyrics, I like the slow intro and how it kicks in and becomes a great little heavy song, this is a highlight of the album. `Lay You World On Me" is the obligatory ballad here, not of Ozz's better ones (such as Goodbye to Romance, Mamma I'm Coming Home, I Just Want You, Dreamer) but it's a very good one that stands on its own. "The Almighty Dollar" is a good one, lyrics work and the song rocks. "11 Silver" is not my cup of tea as Ozzy would say, with its"Hey!Hey!Hey!Hey!..." chorus, doesn't really work for me I'm afraid, however Zakk's solo is lengthy and excellent. "Civilize The Universe" is better, it sounds more like modern metal and has a catchy chorus. "Here For You" is another ballad and another good one, I prefer "Lay Your World On Me" but I like this one as well. Reminds me of some of the Ozzmosis ballads. "Countdown's Begun" is a good heavy track, not much to say on this one. "Trap Door" is one of the better songs on Black Rain, a great album closer, edgy. A tour edition of Black Rain with an extra disc came out a few months after the original's release which is cool because of the new stuff, but bothered a lot of fans who bought the original (Ozzy latter did the same with his next studio album, Scream). The tour edition of Black Rain offers 3 live songs from Ozzy's 2007 Black Rain tour and 3 unreleased songs that didn't make it on the album. "I Don't Wanna Stop", "Not Going Away" and "Here For You" are the 3 live songs. As far as recorded live performances go those songs sound pretty average, I'm sure they sounded great but the recordings aren't that great. Still it's cool to get live songs or any extras I suppose. It amazes me to this day that the studio track "Nightmare" was released in Japan on the album but not in America, I prefer it to any songs on Black Rain. That song is really amazing with the piano going on in the background, Ozzy's delivery and the lyrics it's a terrific song, too bad it didn't make it on the album. . "I Can't Save You" is nothing special, the lyrics are probably among Ozzy's worst yet "You're in denial with your hand up you're a$$"? That's terrible! I could say the same of "Love to Hate", nothing great. The tour edition is not essential let's put it that way, but it would be worth it to hear "Nightmare". Black Rain is not of Ozzy's best albums in my opinion, it hits and misses in some places but it's a good album, not bad and I think it ranks about the same as the previous album "Down To Earth". If you're a fan of the Madman there are definitely some songs you are going to like but don't expect it to rank with the classics, it's good on its own that's how I'd put it. Nothing special but an overall good Ozzy album, 3/5.

I was not expecting it to be this good,

I was not expecting to like this album as much as I do. The first single off the album did not wow me, but rest assured that most of the album is better than the "I Don't Wanna Stop" single. Zakk does a great job on this record as you'd expect. Bonus tracks are great too. Obviously the way this album was released is lame, but I'm just reviewing the album. I dig it, get you some.
