I've bought so many of these and use them daily, I have to review this product with 5 stars. Excellent paper, and is the perfect design for my use. High quality binding, with perforated paper that doesn't shred on it's own but is easy to remove without leaving what my 5th grade teacher called 'mouse marks' from the wire-binding. When I'm running low, I go out and buy 5 more of these. A+

This is the basic Black 'n Red casual notebook. Nothing fancy but you get the expected B'n R quality.

- (double) Spiral bound - it lays flat
- One sheet with 'personal info', 'guide to contents' and 'important contact details' sections on the first page and world map with time zones and conversions on the second.
- 70, easily detachable lined sheets (140 pages)
- The elegant Black 'n Red hard covers

Whenever I'm taking notes on 'paper', which I must do from time to time, I love doing it on Black 'n Reds.

I usually buy a red OR black, hard cover, Twin Wire, 192 page, similar dimension notebook from Staples for about the same price, but it has a MUCH DESIRED elastic strap to keep the notebook closed in a backpack -- or keep turned open to a specific page.

This item DOES NOT have an elastic strap as indicated in another review.

Had I known this certainly beforehand I would not have purchased it. For those who are interested it can lay flat -- either splayed both hard covers on one flat surface, or hard cover folded under thanks largely to the Twin Wire.

I shall not buy another one.

I love these notebooks, especially since red is my favorite color. I am in the military and we typically use these green hardback books, but I prefer these as they open wider and the spiral ones you can open all the way. I prefer the ones with the plastic covers as they still provide protection, can still write on them, and they also have a little red band built in to hold you place or hold the book closed, but these are also great. I gave four stars though as I would prefer if they did not have perforated pages as they actually come out a little too easily.

I recently bought a large hardbound Black N Red notebook and was impressed with its binding and paper. Being as it was a bit big for day to day use, I then bought this Black N Red Hardcover notebook. While the paper, binding, cover and quality all are as good as I would expect from the original notebook I bought, I was disappointed in two things. One, the glossy cover makes the book look cheap, and two, the paper has relatively wide rule for such small pages. Still, it's a great, durable book suitable for taking notes, using as a journal, or as a classy notebook.

I LOVE this notebook. The smooth, high quality paper makes the pen glide through the paper as i write. I actually enjoy taking notes because of this notebook. I can't get enough and I don't use any others since I found these.

This a great little book. The cover is glossy, the spiral binding is sturdy, and the pages are nice. I will likely purchase another in the future.

This is absolutely the best. The hard cover means you can write anywhere, anytime. The wire binding allows you to fold the notebook totally flat and use both sides of the paper. The paper is pleasantly smooth and heavy and take any type of ink, including fountain pens, very well. The notebooks look slick and professional and can serve for any purpose. The micro-perfs permit easy removal of pages, should you choose, but pages never come loose on their own, if you want a permanent record. I've tried many others, including Moleskine, and this beats them all. My only complaint is that Staples has stopped stocking these in stores in my area, although they carry the much less useful poly cover version. I use these at work, home, and everywhere else.

I went to Staples to purchase a notebook because I was about to begin grad school. My intent was to purchase a Mead Cambridge notebook, but none were present. So I got 2 of these and it turned out to be a bad mistake. The back cover came off within a week because the "wire-bound" leaves a gap that is big enough for the back cover to fall off. So that fell off and I said fine. Later on, the front cover fell off (through the same gap). So now I have a notebook with no cover and the pages are beginning to tear at the punctured linings because the intent of this notebook is to have a clean rip of pages, which now works against my purpose (because I have no covers, remember?). So any kind of friction on the pages when I put it into/outOf my backpack deteriorates the integrity of my precious notes! Anyways, so the semester is almost over and I am so DEMOTIVATED to study because these stupid notebooks are falling apart on me. Lesson learned: If you want something sturdy that will take a beating, don't get these notebooks. I have now gone back and purchased 3 Mead Five Stars Notebooks for next semester.
