I thoroughly enjoy using these Black n' Red books. I especially like the perforated pages and the elastic straps that open them to the right place. The poly cover is heavy enough to be substantial (and coffee-proof), so I prefer it to the hardbound versions.

I'm an avid journaler and was thrilled to find this notebook series. The paper quality is top-notch - thick enough so that no matter what type of ink you choose to write with, there's no bleeding on the other side. The paper is so smooth, the words seem to glide onto the pages. The paper is perforated, should you choose to rip the pages out. Black n' Red's prices seem overly much, but they are imported and are made by people who still revere the art of writing. The only drawback is that the standard size notebook is actually A4 size paper - slightly longer and thinner than the north American standard of 8x11. So if you choose to rip the pages out and tuck them into a folder elsewhere (or use the pocket enclosed in the notebook) you'll run into size issues.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that the actual size of the paper when detached is 7 5/6 x 11 3/4. When we measure notebooks made in the USA, they usually measure by the page that detaches, not the entire sheet. The measurements for these books includes the entire sheet. Usually this doesn't matter to professionals, but if you are planning to use these for school work, make sure you check the actual sheet size.

Black n' Red happens to be standard issue in my office. I always preferred the casebound notebooks because most of the notes I take I want to keep and a Black n' Red Casebound Notebook, Ruled, 8.25 x 11.75 Inches, White, 192 Sheets per Pad (D66174) is what's I use for my 'permanent' notes. For casual note-taking, I don't mind the convenience of a spiral-bound book.

I always expect quality and convenience from Black n' Red and this is what I am getting with these notebooks. Another positive: it fits well inside my laptop case.

I am happy that my office supplies me with these classy-looking, well-made notebooks.

I use two different sizes of these notebooks - the A4 and the A5. I use the larger, A4 for note taking and holding documents in meetings and use the A5 for Action Items both at work and in my personal life. They are extremely portable, spill proof and flexible. I love them and continue to order them for other uses. The elastic comes in so handy! The only drawback that I'm aware of is the paper can come loose at the margin if you're too rough with it....otherwise, they are keepers!

As a busy executive assistant, this is my notebook of choice for daily usage ... lists, to do items, telephone messages, journaling. The paper is very white, smooth and easy to write on. Best of all, the paper is thicker than most notebooks and you can write on both sides with gel or liquid ink without it showing through the paper. The spiraling is sturdy, the elastic band is very handy and the plastic covers are durable. Lastly, it looks good to others and looks professional. I bought one last year and liked it so much, I bought four more this year. I little more expensive than most notebooks, but definitely worth the extra cost. My notebook of choice now!

I bought this as a daily work journal, and use it frequently. It's very durable and I dig the red.

The pages are thick enough to write in black pen on both sides, and they do not tear out accidentally.
If you are right handed and use the backs of the pages, you will find your hand running into the wires as is common with any notebook of this size.

The elastic band takes some getting used to as you can slightly feel it beneath the pages when writing. After a few uses I don't even notice anymore.

I wish the rule on the pages was smaller. I prefer college-ruled but these pages are wide ruled.

The wire binding the pages together has a large gap in the center, with the gap placed inward, toward the pages so that the pages are constantly coming out of the wire binding. Whoever designed this thing was a moron.
