The Most Important Work Of Their Lives,
By Paul (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Rose Ep (MP3 Download)
I have been following the guys of Blindside since the old days of their self titled (with frequent remembrances to the quote "I'm no Teddy Bear, I'm no Teddy Bear"). I grew up on the absolute riot and beautiful chaos of A Thought Crushed My Mind. Then I watched as the musical journey continued and they brought a more refined evolution of themselves to the world through their mainstream releases Silence and About a Burning Fire. Those were probably the most creative albums that fit in the clean / refined hardcore genre (and a collaboration with Billy Corgan was just genius) that has been perpetuated since the rise of Korn and Limp Bizkit in the late 90's. Unfortunately, they lacked that open air and lack of boundaries where Blindside always seemed to inspire and flourish. Then we witnessed as their label dropped them and they were forced to go back to their roots with a smaller label. We witnessed as Blindside started making the best and most important work of their lives by releasing The Great Depression and now the Black Rose EP. I don't know if it is a testament to how creative genius can best flourish where no boundaries exits (read, some of the best stuff today is coming out of places where the label is either non-existant or leaves the artist to their work) I have felt truly humbled for being allowed to be part of their creative evolution. A must for any Blindside fan,

This review is from: Black Rose Ep (MP3 Download)
This album is very tough to find in the physical form so buying this from Amazon MP3 store is a no brainer. If you are a fan of Bindside's 'About a Burning Fire' or 'Silence albums, this is a great pick up. It's not as heavy as their self titled or 'A Thought Crushed My Mind' but still an overall solid effort by Blindside.
