4.0 out of 5 stars welcome to the black sabbath tour 1994 !
This is a rare opportunity to watch the early nineties line up of Tony iommi , Glezeer bulter ,Tony martin and boby rondinelli ( on drums) at work together. Great performance at landons hammersmith. dvd approx only - 60 minutes.

2.0 out of 5 stars They missed almost half the concert!!
If you're expecting all the songs from the VHS version, you're out of luck. This DVD is missing 7 songs from the VHS version. 7 songs!!

The company that produces this must only know how to put about an hours worth of video on a DVD. Could someone please let them know that, if done right, the whole concert could have been placed on one DVD? <sigh>

Here's what you get on the DVD: Time Machine, Children of the Grave, I Witness, Mob Rules, Into The Void, Anno Mundi, Symptom of the Universe, Headless Cross, Paranoid. You also get the drum and guitar solos and the video for Feels Good To Me.

What's missing: Black Sabbath, Neon Knights, Psychophobia, Wizard, Cross of Thorns, Iron Man, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

i was disappointed to notice there are only 9 tracks in this live concert dvd with 1 studio bonus track ( from "TYR" album - 1990 ( with Iommi, matin, cozy powell on drums and neil murray on bass). The video has 3 songs that where not found on the cd but the dvd has 7 tracks missing that where found on the video version. you can find tony martin's songs " i witness ", " anuo mund" " headless cross" or the classics - " children of the grave " & " mob rules" but you cant find -" neon knights " or sabbath bloody sabbath " the classic one.
if it would have all the 16 tracks it sould be defenitly 5 stars for me and for their old fans!!

This is the DVD version of an earlier VHS release of a concert from the Cross Purposes tour of the mid-90's which mixed classic Sabbath tracks with their more modern hits. Ozzy fans will be angered by Tony Martin style, but Tony does a great job (by the way, Dio was also a great Sabbath vocalist). Unlike "The Last Supper," this concert was shot with out interview inserts, which makes it more enjoyable to watch. The full long version of "Symptom of the Universe" is a special treat. Tony Iommi: Guitar, Geezer Butler: Bass, Tony Martin: Vocals, Bobby Rondinelli: Drums, Geoff Nicholls: Keyboards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete... but still good, March 11, 2004
This review is from: Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (DVD)
The back cover of the DVD proclaims that the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath is often overlooked but this release seeks to at least remedy that in part. Tony Martin's voice is in top form and the band plays great. Tony Iommi as always delivers the doom-ladden riffage for which he is known (hell, the guy practically invented heavy metal single-handed!) while bassist Geezer Butler and drumer Bobby Rondinelly rock on non-stop. Of course the bad news is that the setlist presented here is incredibly short! Only nine songs plus the video for Feels Good To me. I think more songs could have easily been included. Still, it's really great to hear live versions of non-Ozzy Osbourne era songs like Anno Mundi and I Witness.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Other Black Sabbath, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (DVD)
This fun to watch DVD reveals a side of Sabbath that I hadn't seen before. It has neither the feel of doom pioneering genius of the classic footage; nor the choreographed Icon worship of the re-union era stuff. What it does show is a day on stage of a veteran, hard working, professional, hard rock band. Standing close together on stage, playing as a unit, maybe a little road weary or hung over; and working their butts off. Musicians more than rock stars. I have a lot of respect for the Tony Martin era band; although I just never could buy him or any of the Blackmore guys singing the Ozzy material. I wish they hadn't been so overshadowed by the classic line-up; because they were a great band in their own right. I'm glad the record companies have finally let Iommi put out material under his own name.

3.0 out of 5 stars I guess it's better than nothing, July 9, 2005
This review is from: Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (DVD)
After owning "Cross Purposes-Live" on VHS and finding out that it was being released on DVD I was very excited because VHS tapes do wear out.Was it worth it?
Let's see,the DVD is shorter than the VHS.The remastering isn't too good. The beginning of "Feels Good to Me" is cut off.
I could keep going on but those are my biggest complaints.
I give it 3 stars because:1.It's Tony Martin era Sabbath 2.I'm a true Black Sabbath fan 3.It saves wear an tear on my VHS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful to see this re-released on DVD. Thank you!!!, November 5, 2003

My words cannot express how happy I was to see this finally re-released on DVD. My VHS copy from way back in 1995 was destroyed by my VCR and never replaced. This is the only professionally filmed Black Sabbath concert to feature not only Tony Iommi and Tony Martin together on stage, but also with the brief reunion (for 1 album and 1 tour) with bassist Geezer Butler. Geezer must have had some time off in between Ozzy gigs, but it's always wonderful to see him live. Great picture quality, great sound, great performances from everyone (including new drummer Rondinelli), and great, great song selection. Worth every penny for Sabbath fans of Tony Martin era, which to me was worthy of filming a concert!

3.0 out of 5 stars Un peu leger..., February 21, 2004

This review is from: Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (DVD)
Toujours un peu de frisson en voyant un si grand groupe sur scene. Le son est tres bon mais l'image laisse a desirer; quant au contenu (10 morceaux) ....!! No comment.
Dommage car les DvD's avec Tony Martin sont plutot rares (quelle voix!!).
