Black Sabbath LP, Warner Brothers 1970Side 1: Black Sabbath The Wizard Wasp/Behind the Wall of Sleep/Bassically/N.I.B. Side 2: Wicked World A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning This is a great album to get in vinyl, because the cover art is not done justice with a miniscule CD. Black Sabbath's debut album is killer inside and out. They developed an original doom style of music that has influenced many bands, and that darkness is displayed perfectly on this album. There are many different versions of this vinyl available (it's a little confusing to tell the differences), but I'll try to summarize what I know. Originally in 1970 there was the UK pressing on Vertigo and the US pressing on Warner Brothers. The UK pressing (extremely rare now) has a gatefold with an inverted cross. The song "Wicked World" is not on the UK pressing, but it has the Crow cover "Evil Woman" instead. The US version (probably what most are on this listing) unfortunately doesn't have a gatefold, but I think the track listing is better. They did a good job covering "Evil Woman," but the band admitted they only did a cover because they felt they had to. Some remastered versions of the album contain both "Evil Woman" and "Wicked World." I see Amazon has a 180 gram vinyl version from 2010 with the same track listing as this (Black Sabbath (180 Gram Vinyl)) and an expanded double LP version from 2009 (Black Sabbath [Vinyl]. The double LP from 2009 is a UK pressing, but I don't know if they reissued the original gatefold design with it. I prefer the authentic 1970 audio quality, and this seems to be the most affordable version anyway. Just pay attention to seller's descriptions because I haven't noticed much organization for listing original copies/reissues. They are all just thrown together. I know this is a lot of boring information, but I hope it helps. If you're looking for a cool Sabbath book I suggest Black Sabbath: Doom Let Loose: An Illustrated History. It has a lot of info on their albums covering this one through the 1998 Reunion.

I purchased the debut black sabbath album and it showed up in a very timely manner. Record was good and broken in for me. Has the hit songs "black sabbath" and "NIB". Only thing was that the protective inner sleeve was just in a nut shell a grocery bag with a record in it. I'm just glad the outter art sleeve was good. The whole grocery bag bit wasn't even enough to lose a star.
