Must read for every african pastor, minister, lay person, etc., August 24, 2009
This review is from: Our Black Seminarians and Black Clergy Without a Black Theology (Paperback)
Easy read. Dr. Ben's book is well written and contains facts and references for additional research. I am African Hebrew (black according to U.S. census) and I am a so called Christian (believe in the supreme God Yah and his anointed one Yahshua). I started reading African history about 2 years ago and I am systematically undoing what I have been brainwashed to believe.
My main take away from the book is that we must all challenge assumptions and challenge what we historically believe. There are some who fear and violently resist any discussion against their faith. I believe that truth stands alone and weathers the test of time. Hence there are no golden calves.
Let the black church challenge what we believe and why we believe it. GOD Yah gave us a brain and gave us black history (the original Bible not the later corrupt versions). While I don't agree w/ the master teacher Ben on all his conclusions, I welcome his opinions as they serve as a starting point for research, contemplation, and reconciliation.
