A quick romantic fix,
By
This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
Amir Khalid, sheik of the Mediterranean island nation of Jamala, wakes up confused and disoriented in an isolated cabin. His immediate thought is that he has been kidnapped and he needs to escape. However, he soon learns that his captor is Dr. Isabelle Andrews, the woman he had a torrid weekend fling with but has never forgotten, and she is now quite pregnant with his child. He has no choice but to protect them both from his enemies, but he has been left weak from his comatose state. The thought of his unborn child strengthens him to take action, and to convince Isabelle that they must marry. Will he be able to keep his new found family safe? Will he uncover who is behind the plot to destroy him? And most importantly, will he persuade Isabelle that her place is by his side?
Dr. Isabelle Andrews has taken care of Amir for the past several weeks after witnessing the horrific explosion meant to take his life. She knew that to keep him safe she had to bypass the hospital leaving her father's cabin and the no longer needed medical equipment her only option. When he wakes and takes in the situation, she is relieved. However, when he demands that she marry him since she is carrying his royal heir, she refuses. Her son deserves to be raised in a loving home, and she will not marry out of some sense of duty. It soon becomes apparent that the cabin is no longer a safe refuge, and they take flight from a hail of bullets. She must trust Amir in knowing he will keep them safe. Will she survive all this madness? Will her son wait to be born? Is love too much to ask for? Dana Marton gives her readers a quick romantic fix laced with intrigue and I was fortunate enough to receive a copy from the author for review. She writes amazing action packed romantic thrills while delivering strong, stubborn characters and a fast paced story. Amir and Isabelle shared one weekend of passion which had life altering consequences, and now that they are back in each other's lives they must cope with the circumstances. They must come to terms with the unexpected turn of events, run for their lives, and maybe fall in love in the process. THE BLACK SHEEP SHEIK takes us on an intense chase where we are never certain who can be trusted and everyone is at risk. I quickly devoured this exciting read. I enjoyed the banter between hero and heroine, relished the adventure, and delighted in the outcome. Ms. Marton keeps her readers entertained and I gladly look forward to her next tale.

Hard to Put Down,
This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a fast paced always on the go story that keeps you wondering how on earth are the hero and heroine going to survive. Every time they think they have escaped the bad guys the bad guys show up again. And the heroine is nine months pregnant with the hero's baby. One has to wonder how she manages to survive all the things she goes through
Sheik Amir Khalid of Jamala known as the Black Sheep Sheik had just taken over the ruling of Jamala and doesn't need any more problems but when he and his friends ~ sheiks as well ~ arrive in the US for a summit meeting someone tries to kill Khalid by blowing up his limousine. He has been in a coma for a month when suddenly he wakes up and finds himself in a cabin with medical equipment attached to him. At first he thinks he has been kidnapped and is anxious to get away. Dr. Isabelle Andrews had been intimate with Khalid nine months previous and was just about ready to deliver her baby. She had been on the scene when the limousine exploded and was able to get Khalid out of the car and had taken him to her father's fishing cabin and nursed him back to health. Now they are going on the run because his enemies have found him and are determined to kill him and Isabelle. Quite a chase ensues and they are captured then get free and are captured again until finally they get help from the other sheiks who are his friends and manage to defeat the bad guys just in time for Isabelle to have her baby.

Once again Dana Marton has written a great novel. Her Black Sheep Sheik is full of action and romance and the pregnancy twist was great. I am going to go back and look for the other books in this series. I completely identified with Isabelle and Amirs' great love affair. Thanks Dana

Quick Read, Fun Ride,
This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
Even though I picked this up as soon as it came out, I didn't get a chance to finish reading it until the holiday break. While normally not a fan of the "secret baby" type story, this one was different. Given the "world" in which it had occurred (this story is from a series), the hidden child was more believable and less "soap opera-ish" as a storyline. It was a fun, quick read and a wild ride, as anyone familiar with Marton's work would expect. If you're NOT familiar with her work, I recommend you add them to the TBR pile. You will not be disappointed! Favorite quote (pg. 45): He really had been a lot more agreeable when he'd been in a coma.

Excellent read,
This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have enjoyed Dana Marton's books for years, and always found them a delight. This was no exception. She has a way of writing that transports me into the world that she has created and, with all of the action, I do not come out of it until the story is over. This book was no different and, despite all the turmoil that this world is in, I was in a another place for a few hours. From Amir waking up from a coma on the first page to the shoot-out at the end, there is hardly a pause in the action. But when is does pause, it is only for a romantic scene or to work out who is after Amir and why. Would I recommend this book to a friend? Absolutely, and I already have a few times. Would I buy another book by Dana Marton? Hands down, yes.

When I need an 'escape' into a world other than my own, Dana Marton delivers every time. Danger and intrigue at every turn as the chase ensues and they're not sure who can be trusted. She may be 9-months pregnant with Sheik Amir's baby, but she's not ready to fall at his feet when he announces they will marry. A refreshing change from the swooning or simpering misses in other novels. She's fought her entire life for independence, and learns the hard way that team-work isn't a 'bad word' after all!

The Black Sheep Sheik by Dana Marton,

This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is another great book by Dana Marton. I don't know how she does it but she packs so much story into a small amount of pages. The Black Sheep Sheik is only 219 pages but it's jam packed full of story and suspense and romance. There are bad guys and good guys and i kept guessing which was which.
From Dana Marton's website Black Sheep Sheik is the exciting conclusion to the six-book miniseries Cowboys Royale that I was asked to write with five other authors. I hope you'll check them all out. Together the books tell the story of a brotherhood of royals who come to the United States on business and end up finding love. But each book is enjoyable on its own, having its own roller coaster plot and heart-warming romance. Happy reading! Ok i was not fortunate enough to get to read the other 5 books in this series but I'm going to try and track them down. First i love sheik books and romantic suspense is my fav genre these days so these are right up my alley as they say. If the first 5 are as good as this one they will be worth tracking down. You can read this as a stand alone but a few parts of the book will clue you in that it's a series but it doesn't take away from this book at all. Isabelle meets Amir at a hospital costume party. She is dressed like a harem girl and he a prince. Little did she know it wasn't a costume. He is a sheik. Royalty from a small country. It was one of those love at first site things or perhaps lust at first site. They spent 2 days together pretty much in bed and then Isabelle snuck out. Isabelle is a surgeon at the hospital and lucky for Amir that she is because the next time he sees her he's in a hospital bed in a remote cabin in the Wyoming wilderness and in bad shape. Amir gets the shock of his life when he gets a look at her and she is 9 months pregnant and a bigger shock still when he finds out he's the father. He insists that they marry but Isabelle says no way. No one is going to take over her life. Someone is out to kill Amir and by extension Isabelle since she is with him. The book is spent with Amir trying to get her to marry him and getting away from the bad guys. Action packed there is no slow boring spots. It just clicks away packed full of romance, hot sheiks, baddies and one pregnant lady. I just loved Amir. He starts off like most Sheiks do being bossy but finally figures out that Isabelle needs to be independent to be happy. Now he's got to figure out how to get her to trust that he can do that. Isabelle is one tough chicky who is the boss of herself and has worked hard to get where she is. To read more about this book check out Dana Marton's website to read the first chapter. [...] . Definitely a hot read. 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for The Black Sheep Sheik by Dana Marton.

Black Sheep Sheik-- Riveting!,
By Mallory Kane "Mallory" (Tennessee, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Black Sheep Sheik (Harlequin Intrigue Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
When he wakes up confused and injured in a small cabin in the woods, the only
thing Amir Khalid, sheik of Jamala, is sure of is that the woman hovering over him is Isabelle--the woman he has never forgotten. Nine months pregnant, Isabelle never expected to see Amir again or to wind up running for their lives over rural backroads as unknown assassins pursue them. Not knowing whom to trust and relying only on each other, the pair must find out who is trying to kill them before they can be safe. Marton wraps up the ongoing Wind River County mystery with deft fingers, snappy dialogue and an adventure so tense it will knock readers off their feet.

"As soon as I'm well we are getting married"
Isabelle didn't take to that "Propsal" if you can call it that her and the baby would be just find with out him. She could do with out the guys trying to kill them. Sheik Amir Khalid woke up to find tubes in his mouth and to find he had been in a Coma for a month and to top it all off the woman he spent the night 9 months ago is 9 months pergant(you do the math) refuses to marry him. Then there is the small matter of someone trying to kill them. A great story with many twists and turns An enjoyable read. |
