Wonderful!,
By Reader (Montgomery, AL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Silk: A Collection of African American Erotica (Paperback)
I have read several erotica anthologies and this by far is the best. The range of authors and stories are wonderful. The stories are not tacky, but erotic without being disgusting. I loved the different authors who contributed to this anthology because you got to read something different from their usual writing styles. The stories will make you think, laugh, cry and smile a secret smile. I loved the Eric Jerome Dickey story and Lolita Files has me looking and thinking about roses differently after reading her tale. All the stories are worthwhile reads and I commend Retha Powers on her ability to pull together stories so diverse and well written.

totally hot,
By A Customer
This review is from: Black Silk: A Collection of African American Erotica (Paperback)
I just finished reading this whole book nonstop and it is so hot, I mean it is the best erotica I've read and I read a lot. Brown Sugar was okay but the writers in this anthology are really edgy and vivid and the range is great, everything from women lovers in Amsterdam to internet stuff (my two favorite stories). The editor did a very good job in choosing stories that flow well together and bringing a high level of quality to a field (erotica) that often can be downright tacky. This book reaches a whole new level of sensual writing, whether you're black, white or whatever. I just hope there will be a Volume 2.

Very Disappointed,
By Kimberly M Bass (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black Silk: A Collection of African American Erotica (Paperback)
I was really excited about this collection of African-American EROTICA when I picked the book up from the self. The cover was great and the intro had me hype. As I began to read, my excitement grew less and less...I was not very pleased. The stories were not as erotic to me as maybe they were to the writers. I am not a writer so I will not criticize the writings of anyone. Different things turn on different people. I will point out one of the good stories. Me Between My Own by Camika Spencer. Now you may look at my location and see I am from Dallas, as is the artist. I have never read anything by Ms. Spencer but her short story hit home. I am going to have to pick up her novel.
