Book Description

February 27, 2009
How could Reverend Johnson, an Afro-American priest of a parish in San Antonio, Texas, suspect that his loving care for Amy Carlton, a 16-years-old prostitute and orphan would one day be his undoing, and almost fatal. After Amy Carlton is found brutally murdered on March 13th, 1990, in an apartment close to the local presbytery, suspicion automatically falls on Reverend Johnson, as he and Amy were seen together entering the building on March 12th. After this incident Reverend Johnson suffers a heart attack and is brought to hospital, where he is threatened with death threats on the phone at night. Days later he is transferred to the State Prison of Houston, Texas, without the permission of his Afro-American lawyer, Mia Robbins, who asked a mere two days before for an extension of two weeks for the Reverend, in which the Court shall decide whether the verdict can be changed or not. So Reverend Johnson is imposed with the death penalty, while the mysterious murder of young prostitutes in San Antonio continues. The next few weeks are sheer hell for the Reverend as he is severely maltreated several times and is forced to confess the murder of Amy Carlton, although he is innocent. Will Mia Robbins manage it to save the Reverend from the death penalty? Who really killed Amy on the night of March 12th, 1990? Is there a plot against the Reverend?

About the author
LOLA EVANS, who is a photographer, writer, translator, illustrator, was born in Munich, Bavaria, South-Germany on August 29th 1978. Lola lovingly calls London as her "literal and artistic hometown", as there her career in photography and literature started.
Lola has already published one photography book in 2009, called "LOLA GOES TO LONDON" and her novel "BLACK SKIN WHITE SKIN". A children's picture book called "LOU LOU - THE CUTE SHEEP GIRL" was published in the beginning of 2010. With this book she also did the illustrations on her own. Lola supports with LOU LOU "CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA" in London by means of the sale of the books. Lola comes from her father's side from a Viennese designer family which is also very musical. Lola attends a music school in Munich since the beginning of 2010 to get trained properly in piano, guitar, singing and songwriting. We can expect seeing more of Lola in the future in a musical way, as music is besides art her greatest passion since her earliest childhood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I found it, April 16, 2009
This review is from: Black Skin White Skin (Paperback)
I'm so glad that I had a chance to read Lola Evan's new book. For anybody interested in the death penalty debate, this gripping novel will really open your mind. I don't want to give away the plot, but it is one of those books that once you read it, you won't soon forget it.
