4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, politically-charged punk rock
While the tempos occasionally work their way into a thrash, the playing is surprisingly rock oriented (especially the guitars, with actual solos!) and the vocals on the Social Distortion side of punk - hoarse but melodic. While the tempos occasionally work their way into a thrash, the playing is surprisingly rock oriented (especially the guitars, with actual solos!) and the vocals on the Social Distortion side of punk - hoarse but melodic. This Seattle band has a lot to say, about American society's passive acquiescence to its government, warped political leaders, street culture, drugs and underclass, and the generally shattered dreams of America circa late 2004. Powerful words and powerful playing with a lot of variety, including punk Sea Chanties "The Sleaze of the Seven Seas" and "Pieces of Eight" that bring to mind The Pogues.

5.0 out of 5 stars punk rock with a message!, March 7, 2005

If you like punk with a distored rock sound and polically charged message than these guys are right up your alley. Hailing from the rainy city of seattle, The Hollow Points deliver a social wake up call to a nation of blind sheep. The lyrics alone speak volumes, as they are both timely and shockingly true. With powerful guitar work and epic undertones the music is on the rock side of punk rock but still punk nun the less. The best of all these guys are legit they are totally underground and speak strait from the scence. Produced by Dwane Peters (US Bombs) The Black spot is a great REAL punk album. dan rules!!
