You'll like this book. A friend had one of her other books, and I liked it. I thought this would be an easy and entertaining book to read while at work. It served it's purpose!

This review is from: Black Sun Signs: An African-American Guide to the Zodiac (Paperback)
I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW BLACK SUN SIGNS REVEALED WHO I WAS IN VARIOUS WAYS. WHEN I BEGAN TO READ ABOUT THE PICSES I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN, I BECAME MORE INQUISITIVE AS I SAT THERE LAUGHING IN AMAZEMENT. I SHARED THE BOOK WITH MY MAN AND MY FRIENDS AND THEY WERE SHOCKED TOO. THELMA BALFOUR IS A GREAT AUTHOR AND I PLAN TO READ MORE OF HER BOOKS. THIS BOOK DEFINITELY TALKS ABOUT THE REAL YOU!

At last, there is an astrological guide which includes the African American perspective. I have been a follower of astrology for a number of years and have always been frustrated when I have read the mainstream books because they have failed to be inclusive. When describing people that fall under a particular astrological sign, the descriptions are usually descriptive of Caucasians. Also, the names of the individuals in mainstream books that fall under these signs are also always the names of whites. Black Signs is in accurate description of people born under the 12 astrological signs from an African American perspective. It includes cultural phrases, insight, and relevant suggestions. I found myself chuckling softly, nodding my head, and reflecting seriously about the information in the book. I found the descriptions to be extremely accurate about friends, loved ones, colleagues, relatives, and myself. It has given me new insight about my past and present relationships. I will definitely think about this information when I enter new relationships. Thanks, Thelma, for creating this wonderful resource book. I will definitely pass it on to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT'S WRITTEN IN THE STARS, July 8, 2000
This review is from: Black Sun Signs: An African-American Guide to the Zodiac (Paperback)
Thelma Balfour has taken African Americans to and through the solar system and imparted her knowledge and wisdom of the messages written in the stars. For those of us confounded by the cement jungles, ungodly laws and chaotic chemistry of our lives, Miss T. has given us a reason to look up. She helps clarify what we want, where to look for it and to ensure us that we are in fact worthy and destined to have it all. Black Sun Signs is wonderfully and intelligently presented to minds that are hungry for the light of understanding.

This book gives us a new twist on an old topic - astrology. The book is very factual but uses hillarious references to everyday African American life.

I love this book. I have yet to read a book about astrology that is more factual, entertaining, and enjoyable as this one. Balfour is the TRUTH. I cherish this book and I have so much fun pulling it off the shelf and using it as a reference when I meet people. Love it!

Next to the Bible, I think this is one of the most important books people need to own. I definitely use it as a point of reference and I'm not even heavy into astrology. But I was called out so accurately, I had no choice but to believe. It's almost alarming how you can be described so well by something that has no pulse. I'm not saying that it'll be the same experience for everyone, but it's definitely not a waste of money--especially if you're single! *wink*
