"One of the best books I've read in a long time. The two others that read the book and made the meeting really liked it to. Excellent character development and story telling. The book had many twists/turns/surprises and all were believable."
"Everyone loved this book! However, since it was historical it didn't generate a lot of dialog during the book club discussion. It is 600 pages long and most were concerned about having enough time to read, but it is a very fast read, no one had any trouble reading in time. I have loaned this book to 4 girlfriends since reading this and all have absolutely loved it."
"July 2007 - Book club to discuss this book was cancelled due to too many other committments, so did not have a discussion. However, some were disappointed and didn't think the book was in depth enough for the book club. It was an easy read and was predictable."
"Oct 2007 - Book club was split. Some reaslly liked the book, the style of writing was excellent. However many thought the subject matter was weird. It was difficult to explain to friends/family that we were reading a book about a hermaphrodite."
Everyone really liked this book. All agreed it was a slow read (we had to postpone book club meeting because most weren't finished). Book touched upon many different topics and generated good discussion."
"Feb 2011. Did not generate as much discussion as 'The Forgotten Garden'. Some found it hard to reach mainly in the middle of the book during the famine. I personally liked the book and found it inspirational. After you read this google the authors name and look at the videos of him on the web."
