5.0 out of 5 stars "Give a man a fish and he'll take a mile"
A friend handed me this CD last week and said: "Hey - remember that chick who sang that Legend of the Cowgirl song? Check THIS out!" I've been listening to this CD non-stop ever since. So much intelligence and humor and anger and love is jammed into this disc. It's almost overwhelming...and it would be if it weren't so beautiful. I'd give it a hundred stars if I could.

1.0 out of 5 stars waiting to hear what all elese heard
Imani Coppola's first album rocked. Chupracabra was upbeat, fun and varied. Imani's true vocal range was covered on this album. Sadly, this album only has three songs to listen to. I find the album different. Although not in a good different way and I like different. I found Imani's song list to be entertaining and thought a listen or three would help these songs absorb...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!!!, November 26, 2007
I finally received my CD today and I listened to it from front to back and back again and let me just tell you that it is awesome, refreshing, and it's definitely her at her best. With stand out tracks like Raindrops From The Sun, Woke Up White, and Springtime, this CD is completely awesome. Not only does Imani have a great voice, she's a great voice for everything around her period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album of 2007 ..., November 9, 2007
From the first track to the last this CD is mind blowing and a breath of fresh air and a slap in the face at the same time! Finally something worth listening to. I cant say I've followed Ms Coppola's work faithfully , i bought the Legend of a Cowgirl single way back when...ever. The feel of the CD is eclectic , jumping from rock , to punk to hip hop and everything in between.Cant say there is one song in particular i could say is my favorite it changes daily. This CD has been in heavy replay mode in my truck and in my I-POD I cant stop listening to it and when i do I'm humming the lyrics .. If you are a music fan period this is worth owning.

This is the first time I've ever heard of Imani and I have to say I love everything about this cd. If you can listen to 'Raindrops From the Sun' and not feel happy, then you must already have died. Many thanks to Mike Patton for introducing me to yet another great musician.

5.0 out of 5 stars she never disappoints, April 29, 2008
Coppola can either be credited with or blamed for my decision to go to grad school (don't ask). I loved CHUPACABRA as well as AFRODITE. Now she shows that she still has a knack for being a little off center while being incredibly creative. I haven't gotten tired of this CD yet and I must listen to it at least three times a day.

I find the album different. Although not in a good different way and I like different. I found Imani's song list to be entertaining and thought a listen or three would help these songs absorb into my cranium. Alas, only three made it and the album has been discarded within a week. The album seems like an angry attempt at pop rap with a mix of something unclassifiable. I strongly recommend Imani's first album and skip this one entirely.

1.0 out of 5 stars What are we thinking?, April 30, 2009
Still listening to Legend of a Cowgirl, I thought, what the heck try another. Waiting with bated breath, the cd finally arrived. My friend borrowed it for his car ride, but returned with no music blaring from his moon roof. I knew this wasn't good. After his bad reveiw I figured I better listen. Sadly, he was right. There are only a handful of worthwhile songs compared to her first cd. The first cd was amazing. Not so much for this one. Unfortunately, I won't be listening to this cd very much.
