This expansion pack provides a few new items to build around your city and provides three more maps to conquer. If it weren't for the fact that Black & White 2 was so addictive to begin with, this would be a really disappointing product. If you're looking for skirmish or multiplayer action, this expansion is not for you. In fact, this expansion is probably only for the purely addicted players, and even then, it only amounts to a little over two hours' worth of play time.
As a side note, the custom maps that you can design with Lionhead's map editor or download from various fan sites do not work with this expansion, which means that you can use the new items in only the three maps provided with this expansion.

As a fan of Black & White from the beginning, this was something I just had to have. The game plays pretty much like B&W2 except there is definitely a much darker feel to the expansion. A few new very cool miracles, and a few new cool buildings. About the buildings, you must be careful which ones you use as each has either a positive or negative effect on your alignment. For example, the hospital is a structure only a kind and caring god would build for his minions. It inevitably pulls your alignment toward the good and your villagers recover much quicker from fatigue, in turn giving you production boosts.
On the other hand, the abattoir is butcher's shop and helps to pull your alignment towards the darker end of the scale. For some reason the creators of the game felt that killing of animals for food was evil. I didn't get it. But anyway. If you build some of these, be sure to build a few animal pens close by for an unlimited source of meat for them to kill. Also, you must drop a few villagers in there. They will then become disciple butchers. Without butchers, a butcher shop has no production value whatsoever. And while we are on the evil thing, let's talk about another new building: the blacksmith's. Thankfully, you do not have to drop villagers in a blacksmith shop to have disciple blacksmiths. The cool thing about them is the more you build (up to 10), the greater experience level each new army becomes. If I am playing with a more military approach, I like to build the armories, then go ahead and automatically drop 10 blacksmith foundations. Then each army is spawned with the highest experience rating. Unfortunately for good players, the blacksmith shops have a small draw on your alignment. I have noticed it's not too much to worry about. If you keep building wonderful things like signposts, flagpoles, hospitals, granaries, and dovecotes (a dove house in the middle of a village really helps boost happiness), your alignment will flow toward the good accordingly. But it you need super armies, who really cares about alignment, right? I loved Black & White, I loved Black & White 2, and Battle of the Gods is the latest to make that very prestigious list. It does only offer three more lands to conquer, and one bonus level which I have yet to figure out how to access. It is well worth the money.

I LOVED this game. I have the original black and white and i loved the game so much, but i was never able to find this product in stores since its old. The graphics improved greatly from the first game and so did the gameplay, and i think the graphics impoved in this expansion as well since the creatures look more detailed. I must admit, this expansion is much better then the original gameplay of the 2nd game. The gameplay for the second game didnt seem as challenging since you were just fighint humans, but with another god to have to fight and defend against, it makes things alot tougher. I give it 5 stars, and hope they make a 3rd game some day.

First thing, Do not buy this unless you already own or plan to own Black and White 2. This here is just an expansion kit. I like to play the game Sid Meyer's Civ IV, so my friend told me that this game would spark my interest. I read the reviews and thought hey this is nice. So I tried to install it several times without success. Then I read the package that stated " Requires Black and White 2 to play". This is not a negative review of the game; it is just a warning for people out there. You need to have Black and White 2 the game before you install the Battle of the Gods Black and White 2 expansion Pack. The game arrived in New condition without any scratches. it also arrived here fairly quickly. I will post another review of this game once I order the actual game and play it!

Those looking for a worthy successor to Black and White 2 won't find it here. This game is an expansion pack and nothing more. It brings about a few more maps accompanied by a new story line having to do with good vs. evil (even though you can play evil as well). The game has several new features including new buildings, slightly better graphics, new creature, new miracles, etc. Overall it is a fun game despite its relatively short length. Hardcore fans will be happy with the new features and the element of doom associated with the warfare-like disposition of the game. However, I was very disappointed with how my game kept crashing when I reach the last level. Otherwise, for it's price I'd say it is worth it, but only if you're a fan of the series.

I'm playing through this now. It's more challanging, and more competitive than the original. If you liked it, you'll love the expansion, it's a ton of fun!
Plus you can be a tiger! :)

This expansion continues the story of the player's god against a new adversary, an Aztec god of death, rather than just angry tribal commanders. The game does not change from the original Black and White 2 all that much, aside from there being enhanced creature selection and ai, as well as a few new buildings and four *ahem* new maps. Although these maps are massive, there are still only four, one of which is used soley for a cinematic, leaves the player feeling cheated. However, the new god does provide a good challenge, because now you need to worry about him wandering around the map and harassing your town. Like the other reviews to this game, its easy enough to say that if your a fan of the series, as I am, you wont mind paying for this expansion, but in the back of my mind I know that this content could have EASILY been included with the first.
