He achieved one of the highest accolades possible when he achieved the distinction of Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 1983. He has been widely published.

This is a good introduction to and overview of black & white photography for beginner and intermediate photographers. Although most of the material in this book can be found in other photography books, it is well-presented in this book and accompanied by good photographs. If you already have several books on black & white photography techniques, you won't likely find anything in this book to justify the purchase, but if you're just beginning to explore black & white photography, this book is a good place to start.
