Book Description

January 3, 2006

As a black conservative, Ron Christie takes the road less traveled and often takes heat for it from the liberal black establishment. His insider accounts of his time working for both President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney offers a view into the world of policymaking at this White House at the highest levels. It also provides a refreshingly candid and positive portrayal of these two men who are so often vilified by partisan opponents and the media. A must-read for those who want to go inside George W. Bush's West Wing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read--honest impression of working in the White House, January 5, 2006
This review is from: Black in the White House: Life Inside George W. Bush's West Wing (Hardcover)
This was finally what I have been waiting for. A look inside the Bush White House from someone who wasn't trying to spin the reader. The other reviewer needs a clue. He hosted Ask the White House when he worked there, moron, like many on staff are asked to do. To me, that just makes him all the more credible. I can't wait for his next book!

Received this as a gift and anyone who would say anything bad about this book is a lier, it coudl only be a liberal, it takes courage and guts to be a Black Republican or conservative nowadays, they are called UNCLE TOM's and other names, Thank God for people Like Ron Christi, just because your black does not mean you have to be a Democrat, the book was great and maybe if more Blacks read it and understand that is not so bad to be a Republican but they choose to stay in a hateful party, this will not be publish probably but I had to be honest, BUY THE BOOK IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking over his shoulders, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Black in the White House: Life Inside George W. Bush's West Wing (Hardcover)
I expected to read about Mr. Christie's White House experience and was not disappointed. This is an account of his interactions with those he worked with and reported to, from George Bush to others in the West Wing. The purpose was not to give juicy tidbits, but anecdotes about his relationship with those we can only read about. How does a young African American man end up in his unique position in such a relatively short time in his career? I thoroughly enjoyed his writing style, the sense of amazement and appreciation as a witness to what happens behind those closed doors of power. Whatever my political orientation may be, I applaud his candid observations as one of the very few African Americans to function at such a high level in the Executive Branch. Perhaps a youngster with political aspirations (whatever his or her ethnicity) will read this book and be inspired to follow the dream. Read the book for a glimpse at Mr. Christie's experience and get the sensationalism from media! I am confused as to why you print a "book review" (Merlin) from one who admits to never having read the book and formulating impressions from a CSPAN broadcast. I feel this section should be reserved for those who actually READ the book.
