more rock, less Ska, all good.,

This review is from: In Black & White (Audio CD)
There is no doubt that this album is Mustard Plug. Every track on the album has their unique rock/ska sound. However, if you are looking for the big horns found on some of the prior MP releases, you might be a little let down. I fell into that category at first, but QUICKLY got over it. The songs are fresh, and original and I find myself hitting the back button on my CD player to hear certain songs again.
If you are a fan or rock/ska punk/ska, this is a great addition to your collection. Oh, and "Rat Bastard" is a GREAT song.

This album is the next best album to "Evil doers beware!" It's fast, tight, wild, and full of energy for any music lover especially those into punk and ska!

SKA IS NOT DEAD.,

It's hard for me to believe that there are only two reviews for this CD because Mustard Plug has been a HUGE part of my life since I was in middle school. EVERYONE listened to them. Then I remember that I grew up near Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the band is from, and that's why everyone around me listened to them. But they definitely deserve more attention, even though ska technically died in 1998. In my world, ska is NOT DEAD, especially with Mustard Plug.
By far, this is my favorite effort from the Plug. I hated waiting five years for their new album, but it was definitely worth the wait. This CD sounds like grown-ups wrote it. This is nice, now that I am a grown-up and want to listen to grown-up music. The sound is extremely polished and they don't miss a beat, opening with a heavy-beat song to grab your attention ("Who Benefits"). I do not dislike any track, and for fans that are afraid that Mustard Plug have changed too much, just listen to "Rat Bastard", and you'll not worry. This is my favorite CD of 2007, and I have listened to it at least once a week since I got it for Christmas. If you like ska, definitely check it out!
