Black & White board book is based on the simplicity of objects outlined in black & white that can be easily recognized by babies in their daily surroundings. This is one of those rare books that will interest even a newborn, since they reflexively prefer to look at high-contrast edges and patterns, especially black and white patterns.

The accordion-like fold out design of the book makes it a great border for a play area. The book is sturdy enough to stand by itself and entertain the baby during "tummy time", encouraging them to pick up their head and to look up at the pictures.

The size of a closed book is 6 x 6 inches. The cover closes with a handy Velcro patch to keep the book from unfolding. When opened, the book is 51 inches long. One side features 8 objects in white with a black background: a baby bottle, a balloon, a chair, buttons, a bird, a flower, a banana, and a sailboat. The other side has 6 objects in black with a white background: a fork and a spoon, a baby bib, a butterfly, a leaf, keys, and a cat. It's like having 2 books in 1 (instead of purchasing both "White on Black" and "Black on White" by Tana Hoban)!

My 3 month old finds this very mesmerizing. I prefer it over the traditional version because rather than sitting down to read this book to your baby it's nicer to stand it up and let them look at it for a while. It works really well for tummy time. It's nice to get 2 books in one as well - one side is Hoban's Black on White and the other is White on Black.

My baby was just 2 months when i purchase this book he is now one and an avid reader he just staired at this book laid out on the bed well now he tries to flip the pages but can't becuase it's like an accordian....so i rip them out and placed them in frames in his room they look so cool......buy it you will see what i mean : )

Love this! It's such a simple thing, but it really helped my 2-month-old daughter with tummy time. Once she had the book to look at, she didn't mind being on her stomach quite as much. We still struggle to have her on her belly for long, but this definitely helps.

I loved this book for my newborn. He loved to stare at the pictures in this book, even in the first month of life (when it was hard to get him to look at much at all). The accordion style was perfect to set around him as he lay down. I think he liked the keys the best. Now he loves to chew the corners! This is my favorite gift for new moms as it is a book that can be enjoyed the first few weeks!

I received this book as a gift at my baby shower.... and my little son loved it from day#1 (well from the day we came home from the hospital!). He would look at it in wonder for long periods of time when nothing else was of interest or visible to him as a newborn. Great for building attention span and great for tummy time. He's almost two months now and still gives it long, loving looks. As I said in the title - buy this book now!!!!

I was amazed with how captivated she was with this book! It makes diaper changes so easy because she was so happy just staring at this! I could lay her down, stand the book up in a half circle around her and she'd be happy for 20 minutes looking at all the pictures! This was definitely something I didn't think I needed so early in her life, but was glad I got it!

This book is like crack for babies. Once they see it, they are totally hooked. I've used this book for both of my kids. I received it as a gift at my first baby shower and had no idea at the time how useful this book would be. Both of my girls loved it. If you're considering buying it...DO IT. You won't be sorry. Also, buy 3 or 4 of them to qualify for the super saving shipping. These make GREAT baby shower gifts. Not only do I have one for my girls, but I've purchased 3 more as gifts.

Perfect for helping little ones, especially infants, to develop their vision. Prop it up in the crib or on the changing table too.

This is a great book for infants. I work with newborns and this book is perfect for them as they are stimulated by the bblack and white contrasts.
